The Best Childhood TV Shows

And You’re Watching Disney Channel! or Nickelodeon.
The Best Childhood TV Shows

In my opinion, our childhood TV shows were the best of all. From Disney and Nickelodeon to Cartoon Network, there was always something good on during all times of the day. I know many of you watched Cartoon Network as a kid, but I was not one of those people so none of those shows will be included. I grew up watching hours and hours of shows on Disney and Nickelodeon. As someone who used to have their Christmas tree in their room filled with ornaments of my favorite character and items from these shows, I am qualified to write this review. I have my favorites, of course, but I enjoyed all of these shows and some I will still watch occasionally. These shows are not in order of my most favorite to least favorite, because I do not think I could put any of them at the bottom.

– iCarly

This show was so entertaining and funny. The friendship between Carly, Sam, and Freddy is hilarious—their creative ideas for each show of their Webcast were always on point. My favorite was the spaghetti tacos episode or the cooking challenge episode. If you haven’t tried spaghetti tacos, you should because they are life-changing. Thanks, Spencer for this idea.

– Suit Life on Deck/Suit Life of Zach and Cody

I grouped these together because personally, I still forget what happened in each. These two are just the same thing to me. This was my whole childhood entertainment because these shows went on for so many years, collectively. Cole and Dylan Sprouse were amazing actors then and are even better ones now. I love watching their roles on TV now but they will always be Zach and Cody in my mind.

– Victorious

This was my go-to show to watch when I was 12. I would sing the soundtrack all day every day. Victorious’ soundtrack is still top-tier for me. The music was so catchy and just added to the show in a fun way. I can still recite most of the songs word for word to this day.  Jade and Sikowitz were my favorite characters. Jade’s weird fascination with horror and scissors made me a little uncomfortable when I first started watching the show, but she eventually grew on me. Sikowitz was a strange and quirky man but his acting exercises in class were very entertaining to watch. Especially the one when he made his students improv but everyone’s first line had to start with the letter of the alphabet each person was assigned.

– Wizards of Waverly Place

This show was incredible in every episode. I did watch it a little later than most people because the title having “Wizards” in it made me think it was scary. I did not watch this show until I was in probably 7th or 8th grade when I realized it actually wasn’t that scary. This show was the start of Selena Gomez’s career with the amazing theme song, “Everything is Not What It Seems.” This show had so many fans that Disney even gave us a Wizards of Waverly Place movie, which was pretty good too.

– Zoey 101

This was my favorite show when I was 13. I used to come home from school every day and I would watch at least 3 episodes of Zoey 101, no matter if I had seen them already or not. This show starred Victoria Justice which influenced my love for her show Victorious which was on Nickelodeon. I wish Zoey 101 would have had more episodes and lasted a few more seasons, however, Jamie Lynn Spears did not want that to happen. When I don’t have anything to watch now, I will turn on Zoey 101 and flashback to my pre-teen years.

– Drake and Josh

This was one of the first of the Nickelodeon shows I ever watched. I was around 10 or 11 when I first watched this show and it made me think about what life would be like as a teenager. However, my teenage years were nothing like Drake and Josh. The directors and writers exaggerated teenage and high school stereotypes but I still enjoy this show. The crazy situations the boys were in made the show so entertaining and the two characters are very funny.

– Good Luck Charlie

Now, this may upset some of you but while this show was good, I would have rather watched anything else. I think it highlighted family struggles and the lives of teenagers well but I think the writers stretched the show for too long. The Christmas movie they made on this show I did really like and I still will watch it during the Christmas season. I did enjoy the show at the time but it probably wouldn’t be one I would rewatch again any time soon.

– Hannah Montana

If you did not like this show, please tell me why. Hannah Montana was a staple in our childhood, from the soundtrack to Hannah Montana’s caring dad to the beginning of Miley Cyrus’s career, this show was perfect. The soundtrack of this show might be one of the best Disney has made. This was one of the first Disney Channel shows I ever watched and I still love it to this day.

– Shake it Up

This show was not overall great but there were a few episodes that were fun to watch. I have always loved Zendaya and I think she is an amazing actor but the show as a whole was not my first choice. If this was the only show on when I was watching TV I of course would watch it but I was never dying to watch this show.

I do have some honorable mentions that I watched on occasion that did not make my top list and that is Sam and Cat, Jessie, Sony with a Chance, Girl Meets World, and Spongebob Square Pants. These shows were fun to watch but I did not watch all episodes of these shows so I didn’t feel like giving my opinion on the few episodes I did watch. I hope you will go back and watch one of these shows sometime soon. Comment below what your favorite childhood TV show was!!!
