Senior Spotlight Part 3

We’re back

Welcome to our third issue of the 2024 Senior Spotlight!

First up, we have one of our school’s most recognizable figures:  Jordan Burrell was born on December 1, 2005, and currently resides on the Isle of Palms.  Jordan attended Buist Academy until eighth grade, and upon enrolling at Magnet, became Remy the Raptor.  Her favorite animal is a toucan and enjoys listening to Drake all the time.  Specifically, her favorite song is “In My Feelings.”  If she could eat any meal, she would opt for a plate of tuna and salmon sushi.  Her favorite memory at

Magnet is getting decked out for the football games and “griddying” during said games.  She is happiest when she is surrounded by her family and friends.

Next, we have another Buist graduate, Abby Youmans.  She was born on November 18, 2005 (happy birthday!) and lives with her family downtown.  Her favorite animal is an elephant and loves the track “All Is Well” by Hans Williams.  Like Jordan, Abby dreams of sushi, ramen, and a matcha latte.  Abby is happiest when she dances with her boyfriend at last year’s prom or just hanging out with him and some of her friends.

Julia Gulledge was born on October 27, 2005.  Living in West Ashley, Julia attended Montessori Community School.  Her favorite animal is a jellyfish and her favorite song is the Downton Abbey theme.  Julia dreams of eating real Mexican food in Mexico (us too) and fondly remembers how she used to play UNO during classes in May after her AP exams were finished.  Outside of school, Julia is happiest when she is laughing with her friends or family.

Chase Dillon, although also a resident of West Ashley, attended Orange Grove Charter School.  He was born on March 5, 2006, and his favorite animal is a bear.  Chase says that the soundtrack of his life is well-represented by Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising.”  Continuing the Asian influence on Seniors’ dream meals, Chase is always craving any kind of hibachi meal or sushi.  Like many of the class of 2024, Chase’s favorite Magnet memory is leaving school early because of the sewage problems we’ve had.  Chase is happiest outside of school; however, when he is pushing himself physically and mentally to achieve greatness.

Lauren Faust is our first Mount Pleasant resident of this week’s installment.  Lauren was born on August 20, 2006, and attended Cario Middle School.  Her favorite animal is a butterfly and her favorite song is “Pipe Down” by Drake, a favorite artist among many Magnet students.  When she’s daydreaming, Lauren almost always thinks about sitting down for a snack from the Daily—whipped feta toast.  She’s only tried it once, but she’s been craving it ever since.  Her favorite memory she’s made at Magnet is winning Wall Day as sophomores, and she is happiest when she is sleeping in or tanning at the beach during the summer.

Lastly, we’d like to feature NHS president, Bowen Gao, who was born on July 27, 2006.  Bowen also lives in Mount Pleasant but attended Moultrie Middle School, where he played the clarinet in the band.  His favorite animal is a turtle and the soundtrack of his life is “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift.  For his dream meal, Bowen dreams of “a really good burger and fries” (Five Guys always delivers, by the way).  Like Chase, Bowen’s favorite memory is leaving early that one morning because we had a sewer problem.  Bowen is happiest when we are on school break, so he’s in luck!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
