Welcome back to the Senior Spotlight.
We’re starting this issue’s Spotlight with Rin Baylock, a resident of North Charleston and graduate of Deer Park Middle School. Rin’s favorite class is Marine Biology with Ms. Roop. They are looking forward to attending Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte to study Food and Beverage Entrepreneurship. Naturally, if Rin could choose to work any random job and not have to worry about money, they would choose to be the owner of a baking business. Rin’s favorite food is pasta and loves to accompany that with brownies or cake, their favorite desserts. Rin’s favorite memory at Magnet has to be one of the previous spirit weeks, but they couldn’t possibly choose, although winning the most recent spirit week as a senior was, as they described, “AMAZING :))” Rin is obsessed with the Trolls franchise and says that Trolls Band Together is their favorite movie. In Rin’s opinion, the best emoji is 😈.
Holly Manning was born on the First of February, 2006. A former resident of Virginia, Holly now lives in Mount Pleasant with her family where she attended Christ Our King Stella Maris before coming to Academic Magnet. Holly says that her favorite class is Calculus with Dr. Cassidy and that her favorite food is a pasta dish that her grandma makes with tomatoes, corn, and mozzarella cheese. For dessert, Holly is always up for dark chocolate or tiramisu. As an alternate career, Holly would choose to be an elementary school teacher. In her opinion, the best emojis are 🫵 and 🤗. Her favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You.
Next, we have Kallie Klugman. Kallie was born on January 16, 2006, and attended West Ashley Middle School, although she currently lives in Park Circle. Kallie will be attending Clemson next year on her path to becoming a veterinarian. Kallie’s favorite class is, aptly, Marine Biology with Ms. Roop. Kallie dreams of having a salmon avocado roll as a special meal and fried cheesecake for dessert. Her favorite memory at Magnet was the Marine field trip to Folly Beach. Kallie’s favorite emoji is 👹 and her favorite movie is “The Notebook. I love Ryan Gosling so much.” If money wasn’t an issue, Kallie would gladly choose to be unemployed.
If you met Maris Jones, you’d know she’s a Leo (she’d probably tell you but still). She was born on July 26, 2006, and lives in Mount Pleasant. For middle school, she attended Laing. Her favorite class is Honors Calculus with Ms. Frazier. While she’s not entirely sure about where she’ll attend school next year, she has narrowed her options down to NC State Honors or USC to study environmental science. Maris’s favorite meal is chicken and broccoli alfredo with Ben and Jerry’s Half-Baked ice cream for dessert. Her favorite memory at Magnet is “Lilly Murphy’s quote book” and her favorite movie is Fantastic Mr. Fox. If money wasn’t an issue, Maris would be a stay-at-home wife. Her favorite emoji is 🤦♀️.
That’s all for this issue. Stay tuned for more Senior Spotlights.
