AMHS Senior Takes His Talents to Spain

On Saturday, August 29, AMHS senior Cooper Nugent will be taking the next step in his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. Cooper will be leaving for Spain to play for Levante U.D.’s youth team. A 3-time state champion at Magnet, Cooper spent last summer playing for the Puerto Rico national team in Olympic qualifiers; it was at those games that the Levante manager saw him play and asked him to join their youth academy. Cooper, a center back for Magnet, will spend the next 10 months competing in games and tournaments, but hopes to stay longer. If not, Cooper plans to come back to the United States to play college soccer. Although Cooper will be slightly younger than most of his teammates at Levante, he hopes to use his experience of playing for Puerto Rico with and against players much older than him to catch the manager of Levante’s eye once again in the future. Magnet wishes you the best of luck, Cooper!
