Your Raptor soccer teams are going to the championship! Both the boys and the girls defeated Bishop England in hard fought games that ultimately ended in a victory.

Jesse Dooley entered Monday’s game vs. BE with 99 goals in her high school career. She left the game with 100. Her goal was the equalizer in the second half after the Bishops took a 1-0 lead with a score in the 22nd minute by senior forward Erin Morarity. Senior midfielder Becca Bosch scored the go-ahead goal for the Raptors in the 65th minute to make the score 2-1. Her relentless attitude helped her redirect a shot off the crossbar to put the ball in the back of the net. Two minutes later, in the 67th minute, Marin Miller added to the Raptor’s lead with an assist from Allyson Peurifoy. The Raptors kept the lead for the remainder of the game and celebrated their fifth consecutive appearance in the state championship game as the final whistle sounded. AMHS will play Christ Church at River Bluff High School in Lexington, SC on Friday at 3:00 for a chance at their fourth championship in five years.

The Raptor boys’ soccer team also came out with a victory in Tuesday’s game, crushing the Bishops with a 6-1 win. The Raptors scored quickly, taking a 1-0 lead just 38 seconds into the game with a goal from senior Nick Nybo. Buckley McCall scored four minutes later off a corner kick from Zach Reineke to make it a 2-0 score that would remain through halftime. Although the Raptors seemed to be in control of the game at that point, Sam Freidrich scored a goal for the Bishops in the 42nd minute to make it a one score game. Raptor fans held their breath as the Bishops came close to scoring again on the next play. However, the game quickly turned around as Dylan Robinson scored for the Raptors off of a play designed by the assistant coach. With the crowd on its feet and a 3-1 lead, the Raptors scored three more times with goals from Cooper Nugent and Reece Moore. The Raptors will now face Indian Land in the championship game at River Bluff High School in Lexington, SC at 1:30 on Saturday.
