Annika Bovender Wins Girls’ Golf State Championship and Girls XC Wins Region Championship

Academic Magnet’s Annika Bovender won the state championship for girls’ golf. She shot consecutive rounds of 71 and finished with a score of two under par. Annika placed second and third the past two years, and is thrilled that she finally won the championship her senior year.

In more sports news, the girls’ cross country team was victorious at the region meet, defeating Bishop England, North Charleston, Garrett, and Whale Branch. Kristin Fairey placed 1st, Megan Kolbe finished 2nd, Carly Hall came in 6th, Caitlyn Fairey finished 7th, Caroline Seymour placed 8th, Cassidy Rindge came in 14th, and Payton Ritter finished 15th. The girls’ cross country team travels to the Clemson Research Center in Columbia for the Lower State meet on November 1st at 11:00.
