Hello, Raptors! Today I will be interviewing my Talon Talk co-host, Samuel Maher. Many of you know him as “Sam” or “Maher”, but he will always be Samuel to me, as that is what he went by prior to his enrollment at Magnet. For this particular Senior Spotlight, I will be taking a more inquisitive approach, so the article will be in Q&A format. (Note: the questions gradually get funnier, so if you’re here strictly for entertainment purposes, scroll on down.)

  1. What’s your favorite activity? Listening to music. Preferably, rap.
  2. What’s your favorite class and why? Honors Stats, because we get a LOT of work done. 😉
  3. Who are your best friends? Evan, Tobin, and Bryan.
  4. What’s your favorite thing about school? The adrenaline rush you get running from the front door to your car in the parking lot, desperately trying to get out before everyone else.
  5. What’s your least favorite thing about school? Not learning the important things in life that are actually applicable to our future.
  6. What are your top college choices? NC State, USC, and Clemson.
  7. Do you have any career plans? To be as successful as possible in whatever I do. I love geology, so I might be a forestry major.
  8. What’s your favorite food and dessert? My favorite food is a good hamburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, bleu cheese, and a toasted brioche bun. My favorite dessert is a donut.
  9. What’s your favorite meal of the day? Breakfast, because I can cook a lot of breakfast foods and I find the selection much more enjoyable.
  10. What’s your favorite movie? My favorite horror movie is Get Out, but my all-time favorite movie is probably Star Wars: Episode 3
  11. What’s your favorite song ever? “I Still Can’t Find What I’m Looking For”, by U2
  12. You’re on a deserted island for the rest of your life. You are allowed to bring five things. Besides the basic necessities, what do you choose? A fishing pole/tackle, YouTube, Spotify, a 4-wheeler, and a boat.
  13. What do you personally believe your Harry Potter House and Divergent Faction are? I think my Harry Potter house is probably Slytherin, because I’d like to think I’m clever and cunning. I believe I’m divergent, because I don’t think I have a definite Type A or Type B personality—every test I’ve taken, I’ve been down the middle between the two.
  14. You have met a genie. What are your three wishes? (NOTE: you can not wish for an infinite amount of anything.) I’d wish for 100 billion dollars, to be ruler of the world, and eternal life for my dog, Ginger. (I would also like for Ginger to be able to eat as much food as possible without gaining weight.)
  15. You have to get married tomorrow. Who do you choose? Margot Robbie.
  16. You can only say one word for the rest of your life. What word do you choose? Gang.
  17. You can only use one emoji for the rest of your life. What emoji do you choose? The snake emoji.
  18. You’re about to die, but you’re granted your perfect day before death. Describe it. I would spend it on one of those water jet skis that are connected to a giant yacht, and on the yacht is twenty of the hottest models from around the world. We are cruising around the coast of Thailand, all taking turns on the jet ski. I can’t say a lot of the other things I would like to do.
  19. You are given $500 to craft the perfect outfit. (Note: you don’t have to spend it all.) What does your outfit look like? High Top Timbs, Nike Elite Socks with neon green and purple, extra tight skinny jeans, no shirt, and Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses.
  20. Last question. Why do you believe you’re awesome? I think I’m well-rounded as far as my knowledge and the activities I pursue for fun.

That’s all, Raptors! Stay tuned for more Senior Spotlights from yours truly.
