Clare Crawley, the new Bachelorette for season 16

As some of you might have heard ABC announced the new Bachelorette this past Monday. Clare Crawley is to be the Bachelorette for the 16th season of the show. When I first heard this I had to do a deep dive on her because like many of you, I thought “Who in the world is Clare Crawley? And Why isn’t one of the girls from Peter’s season of the Bachelor, the Bachelorette?”

Clare started her Bachelor career on Juan Pablo Galavis season. She was runner up to Nikki Ferrell on the 18th season of the Bachelor. In the last episode, she served Juan Pablo her famous line “I would never want my children having a father like you.” She then went on to be on the first 2 seasons of Bachelor in Paradise. In the first season, she quit in week 5 due to Ashlee Frazier saying disrespectful things about her to fellow constant Zack Kalter. Then on her second season of Bachelor in Paradise, she was eliminated on week 3 with no one giving her a rose. Then, she was in the first and (sadly) only season of Bachelor Winter Games. On Bachelor Winter Games she had an on and off relationship with contestant Benoit Beauséjour-Savard. Then in the finale Benoit proposed to her on their live interview with Chris Harrison in 2018. The couple then broke up later that same year. So, she has been on 4 different Bachelor franchise seasons thus far.

There has been some push back from Bachelor nation about picking Clare. Some people are saying that she has already gotten 4 chances at love on TV and that is enough. They think it is unfair for her to get yet another shot on a Bachelor show. Personally, I agree that she has already been on enough shows and they should use one of the newer girls for this upcoming season. I really thought it was going to be Hannah Ann (because who are we kidding, she is not going to win Peter’s season). Another reason people do not want her to be bachelorette is that she is older than most contestants on the show at 38 years old. Usually, contestants are in their late 20s and early 30s. I think it might be a nice change, and I am hoping for more maturity from this coming season.

Overall, Clare Crawley’s season will hopefully be interesting and end up with an engagement for the hopeless romantic that will keep her from appearing on a 6th Bachelor franchise show.
