Seniors, we are more than halfway through! Can you believe it’s almost March? Time has really flown by this year. We’ve already had our fair share of “lasts” with moments such as our final pep rallies, football games, spirit weeks, and semi-formal. Yet, with 3 months left (practically 2 with only AP exams in May), we still have so many exciting moments to experience! Senior year is supposed to be a time of reflection on how you have grown as a person while also being a time of excitement–and also nervousness– for the next few years ahead. Whatever you plan to do, these last few months are the final moments that will close this chapter of our lives.
Senior Class Trip
The senior class trip is well-anticipated for all 3 years at AMHS leading up to it. For as long as we can remember, Magnet has always taken the seniors to Disney for their trip. Everyone comes to school super early in the morning–we are talking like 6 AM–and hops on a bus. Grab yourself a bus buddy because this ride is no joke. Not sure what to do with such a long bus ride? Bring a book, download some movies, talk with everyone around you, and sleep! It’s really up to you. After the “fun” 8 hours on the bus, we will arrive at Epic Universe, the new park at Universal Studios. Based on Super Mario World, Epic Universe immerses you in the experience with its thrilling rides and impressive visuals. The next day, you will have the choice to hop between Universal Studios Florida, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, or Universal Volcano Bay. All the excited seniors will be roaming the parks from dawn to dusk, over 12 hours of fun!! Day 3 is Disney day, students’ choice between Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Be sure to try the different foods throughout the parks, and don’t go home without a souvenir! Day 4 will be the worst day……time to come home.
Senior Spring Break
Spring break is always a fun time, but even more fun when it’s your last one! It is the last break of your high school years, which means you have to make it count. This year, spring break is April 5-12. Lots of seniors plan trips with their friends in order to make some memories before the great divide of college. This is not always the case, and some seniors will have just as much fun with their families if they have trips planned! Make sure to hug your parents and siblings extra tight while you can!! And some seniors will be here in Charleston, relaxing while sitting on the beach or a boat. This totally makes sense! Why would you leave when we live in paradise?! Either way you choose to spend your week off, and we mean 9 days off, have a blast!
Senior Prom Weekend
April 24-26
What we’ve all been waiting for: Senior Prom!! Girls, I hope you’ve started looking for your dresses. Both in-store and online, it often takes some time to find a dress that suits you. Guys, I hope you appreciate the fact that you don’t have to spend hours finding the perfect dress (and maybe start thinking about promposals…?). Lots of senior friend groups rent out a house for the joyous weekend that lies ahead, a place for everyone to hang out and prepare for the big dance! Despite stressful planning and looking for houses, prom weekend should be filled with fun! Taking place at the music farm in downtown Charleston, prom will be high energy and an exciting night. Spending the whole weekend with your friends AND getting (hopefully) good photos? Sounds like a great weekend to me!
Senior Skip Day
You didn’t think we would leak this information, right???? Stay tuned!
Senior Decision Day
It is finally our turn! Decision Day is one of the best senior events here at Magnet. For those who haven’t seen it before, here’s the rundown: All the seniors will gather in the green space by the chessboard. Wherever you have decided to go for college next year, you will wear a T-Shirt representing your pick. Everyone gets to take photos together wearing their different college merch and gets to show off where they ended up! Underclassmen often come and take pictures with their favorite seniors, and start planning when they will come to visit. If it is the same policy as last year, thanks to the admin, seniors WILL be able to use their phones for picture-taking purposes.
Senior Awards
Taking place in the School of the Arts Theater, Senior Awards Night will take place on May 27th, 2026. It will feature a vast array of awards, both academic and personal, that will be awarded to different seniors. It is also one of the last times that seniors will be gathered together before walking across a stage in their caps and gowns.
Senior Sunset
Just as the senior class all came together this summer to watch the sunrise before going back to school, we will be coming together for one last time to watch the sunset before leaving AMHS forever. This is a sad but memorable event for all of us. Surrounded by all your friends and the people who watched you grow over these past 4 years, you can all be together and prepare for the next journey that each of you will be taking. The weather will be nice and warm, with hopefully no clouds, perfect for swimming and having fun. Bring your camera to document the sunset with your classmates and friends!
Graduation
May 29
Last on this list may be the most important….Graduation!! The fact that we only have 90 days until we throw off our caps is crazy. All seniors will be wearing raptor green gowns, with an accompanying cap! Some seniors will have different cords based on what they have completed in their time at Magnet. With family and friends filling the audience seats, this is an exciting milestone in everyone’s life. Everyone is invited, so make sure you come out to support the graduating class of 2026!
