Everyone did a great job dressing up and participating in last week’s events. With the freshmen winning the rap battle and the battle of the bands displaying each grade’s talent, last week was a great exhibition of everyone’s school spirit. With the walls being made, voted on, and taken down, I want to congratulate everyone for their hard work, and in case you didn’t get a chance to see the walls, here’s a little recap of them all.
Freshmen Wall – This year’s freshmen are starting their walls strong. They filled out the hallway well with plenty of decorations, and I would go as far as to say that this Space wall is one of the best freshman walls we’ve seen. From the lights to the painted stars on the wall, this wall is showing great potential and a great display of what the year of ’29 can do. With their first wall getting them second place, it’s safe to say that they are tough competition! However, they reused a lot of props from previous years, seeing as there were two space themes last year.

Sophomores – This year, the sophomores’ theme was Western. While they only focused on decorating one of their walls, they filled it with things like wanted posters and balloons, which they also hung from the ceiling. While they didn’t decorate both walls, they did a good job fleshing out the one they focused on, and overall, it was a pretty good wall. I’m interested in seeing if they keep the same approach going forward or how they choose to use the space next!

Juniors – From the wall of minion drawings to the giant moon (not pictured), the juniors made the minions come to life. With all the balloons with faces and the fluffy unicorn stand, one of my favorite parts of this wall, they were very hands-on with creating things. While this is a theme we haven’t seen yet, they did a good job making things from the movie, like the giant moon and Gru’s car. Unfortunately, the streamers they put on the entrance to their wall were short-lived, along with the moon, but overall, the wall was good!

Seniors – This year’s seniors did the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. The bottom floor was Halloween Town, the stairwell was the forest to the holiday doors, and the upstairs was Christmas Town. The cozy little fireplace upstairs, along with the Naughty and Nice list, was a good display of Christmas Town. My favorite part was the stairwell because the seniors were able to make it dark, and the lights were really cool. Downstairs, they had the mound in front of the moon with Ooggy Booggy in it. They also had the well from the starting scene in the middle of the room. While the way was kind of bare, the decorations they did have were handmade and brought the wall to life!

Everyone did a wonderful job participating, whether it was helping build the wall, donating, participating in the lunch activities, or dressing up for the themes. I can’t wait to see what themes we all come up with next year and how well they get executed!
