Happy October, Raptors! Sophia and I are here to give you all different places to shop for your Halloween costume, or costumes. This Halloweekend is 5 days, so get ready for costumes all weekend long! If you have no idea what you are wanting to dress up as, then read the other Talon articles that are discussing possible Halloween costumes for you!
First up, this is a no-brainer. Amazon has just about everything you could ever need for your costumes. Whether you need an entire outfit or just accessories, then this is the easiest, fastest, and most likely the cheapest option. Sophia and I explored Amazon and the possible costumes that students could be wanting and the prices are highly affordable! Say you are wanting to be a classic witch, you can find so many different accessories or clothing items. Here is a picture of a fun and affordable costume pack that has so many accessories included, this is definitely worth it!
Next up, we have Edikted. Though this may just seem like a clothing store, it can work just as well for costumes! Even better, you can keep whatever you order for the future, whether for college or just fun plans on the weekend. After some investigation, we found that the Edikted skirts are going to be a great item for your costumes this year. Specifically, the leather skirts or the jean skirts. These are stylish and timeless, so no need to worry about wearing them in the future and so many different costumes can use a fashionable skirt to accompany them. When discussing price, these prices are definitely higher than something you could find on Amazon. But if you think about it, you are paying for quality AND quantity, best of both worlds! We are going to drop some images of possible skirts you could buy for this fun-filled holiday.

Going in with the classic Halloween store, Spirit is going to have so many options for you! Though it may be hard to come by, you can still find the Spirit Halloween stores when they come back into town. Not only do these stores have everything you could possibly need for a costume, they also have interactive Halloween decorations. Personally, I think this is the best part of these stores. Walking through Spirit halloween, you can get jumpscared about 20 times in the span of a minute. This may not be everyone’s frightening scene, but for those who love a good scare, this is the place for you!

If you are wanting some more affordable options for this Halloween weekend, then Shein is definitely up your alley! Shein has just about everything you need, from accessories to full on costumes. The prices are quite low for what it gives you, so for high schoolers who may need to be budgeting. We talked to a few students about where they were planning to order their costumes from and this was a very popular company.

Next up, we have Party City, a long-standing chain location with lots of potential…when it actually has items in stock. In recent years, it has become slightly less populated with decorations and costumes. Nevertheless, it is still worth a shot to go and see what they have. Similar to Spirit Halloween, it has scary decorations and accessories, so even if you don’t need a costume, you can surely find other Halloween-related items to make it a spooky October. In terms of the actual costume, they can be slightly on the pricier side. However, they have multiple versions of different costumes and cater to all ages. Additionally, they have true costumes that actually resemble the characters and monsters, not just normal clothes to make it “character-inspired.” Thus, if you want a costume that is authentic, a place like Party City would be the best route to take!

Finally, we have Target. Target is famous for its variety of shopping items and addictive snacks/groceries. However, when October comes around, it turns into a hotspot for decorations, costumes, and even a quick stock-up for candy. While target costumes are best for younger kids, they have a lot of small accessories to complete your outfit. Therefore, it may be better suited for younger siblings’ costumes or buying candy for the kids scouring your neighborhood for candy. Even so, if you find something small and fast, chances are that you have a good chance finding it at Target!

Now, with all of these reviews, you may be asking: Well, where do most people go? Or Why do people like these places over others?
To determine this in a quantitative manner, Molly and I asked some fellow raptors where they shop most and why. Here’s what they had to say:
“I ordered my Halloween costume and accessories from Shein and it was good because they were affordable, had lots of options, and perfect for Halloween. I had to order them early though because the shipping takes a while.” Caroline Maiden (11)
“Edikted is my personal favorite for shopping for costumes. This year I’m being Evie from Descendants, and Edikted had the perfect clothes for my red and blue outfit. Sophia is being Mal, and I’m trying to help her find some things from Edikted too. It’s the best for some cute Halloween costumes!” Emma Miars (11)
“I think that Amazon is going to be my go-to this year. I want to find a few different costumes since Halloweekend is extra long. Plus, having Amazon Prime is such a time saver since they deliver so quickly.” Kamya Pham (10)
“My Halloween costume is going to be Zeus from Hercules. I will most likely go to Walmart to see if they have sheets for a good price. If I can’t find or make other important parts of the costume, I will look them up on amazon. I am really hyped for Halloween this year so the fit is going to be sensational!” Zuriel Nyamatsuka (12).
Looking at the results, it seems that Walmart, Edikted, Amazon, and SHEIN are some serious contenders. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone’s costumes this year!
