No Tricks, All Treats! The Best Halloween Costume Guide for 2025!
With Halloween coming up there’s nothing you need to worry about more than showing up in an Un-Boo-Livably good costume. Every year the costume lineup changes with the shifting culture so here’s your guide to look spook-tacular this October 31st. Whether you’re tricking-or-treating alone, pairing up with your BOO, or bringing the whole coven, here’s your ultimate guide. In addition to these suggestions we are going to try and create a tradition here at Academic Magnet that everyone will love for years to come. If y’all are wondering what that tradition might be, worry no longer. The tradition in question is going to be trick or treating in school. “But Bennett, how would that work?” you might ask. Wait no longer I’ll tell you!! In order to get teachers to participate in the hallway trick or treating, we’ll go to Mr. Perlmutter and politely ask what his thoughts on it are. Then we will post a google form to both the teachers and the students. For the teachers we will ask them who will participate and what times they think will be best for the trick or treating to occur. For the students’ google form we will ask them if they would support this idea and also make sure that they would wear costumes to get the full effect of Halloween. Some things that need to be in place for this to happen are appropriate costumes, good treats (also ones that people with allergies can eat). This would be a great idea for all grades and it would be one more event to join the school together and strengthen the bond that is Academic Magnet. But, for right now, we will get into appropriate costume ideas that are fun and awesome. Hopefully y’all will take our advice and wear these great costumes. There are solo costumes, duo costumes, and squad costumes.
Solo Costumes:
Our first suggestion would be Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” if you really want to make a splash this halloween this costume is the perfect choice. The iconic red hair and sparkly scales will be enough to wow the judges and all your friends. This costume would look fin-tastic on anyone and you better buy it now before everyone else flounders to Spirit Halloween.
No Halloween is safe without your friendly neighborhood hero. It’s a classic whether you want to dress up old-fashioned in Toby Maguire’s version of Spiderman, or Tom Holland’s, this costume is a guaranteed hit. Keep in mind with great costumes comes great responsibility.
Even though it is still fall and a little too warm to build a snowman, we’re keeping it cold with this suggestion. If you want halloween costume shopping to be stress-free, it’s time to let it go, and be Elsa this year. Her icy blue is the ultimate eye turner, whether you choose to freeze the candy or your sister, it’s up to you this halloween. This majestic costume is a certain wow-receiver and you might just sing your way through the night.
An original but classic suggestion is your golden ticket to a best costume award this halloween. The classic purple coat, the black top hat, and cane to go with your costume will be a real treat for the judges. You can go classic Gene Wilder, or try a modern Timothee Chalamet version but either way this costume will make the sweetest surprise at Halloween.
Our last suggestion won’t make a field goal, but will please the crowd, its simple but iconic look is a standout seen throughout the year. Its festive short movies are enough to put everyone in the Halloween mood. A simple yellow zig-zag shirt and a cute dog are enough to give everyone that warm feeling of nostalgia while looking at your costume. Hopefully you can get something better than a rock while trick or treating but there’s only way to find out.
Duo Costumes-Partners in Crime and Tricking
If you dress up as this duo it’s a guarantee you’re going to rule Halloween and Gotham. This is the purr-fect costume for a couple, Batman brings justice to the party while Catwoman brings the claws. Together this duo, equally scary and powerful, will always look fang-tastic.
This costume is from a galaxy far, far away….. And for a duo travelling to an intergalactic party and who likes their love story straight out of a movie. This costume has flowing robes and glowing lightsabers sure to make star wars fans lose their mind. Anakin can have his hooded appearance while Padme can be dressed in her typical clean white colorway.
This costume is perfect for a curious duo known to get into mischief while swinging around town. One person gets to go full monkey outfit with ears and a tail while the other gets to rock the iconic bright yellow suit with the bright yellow hat. This only concern this duo has is being able to carry all the costume awards. We give anyone who does this costume bonus points to whoever can act out an episode of Curious George.
This duo would be cooking at Halloween, Linguine and Remy are a certain staple. If y’all want to dish up a fire outfit this is perfect for y’all. One person gets to chef out with the full har and apron while one person gets to go full rat mode but we can fully guarantee that this duo will be brie-elliant.
This costume might end up in a fight with our previous duo but its sure to cause danger at your Halloween party. This crime duo is sure to be tricky to beat. Harley Quin and The Joker are a known movie crime duo and this pairing guarantees a laugh filled night.
Trio Costumes!!! 3 is better than 2
For this trio you will need to grab your wands and robes and hit up diagon alley, whether you’re going to be casting spells or drinking butterbeer, it’ll be sure to be a magical night. This trio is going to need 2 guys and 1 girl and they’re going to be Harry, Ron, and Hermonie. This trio of balance will find one person on a magical quest. One locked in studying in a room alone and one snacking on all the treats and cracking jokes.
This trio is for the girls, this trio is an iconic trio of pure power and pink power. The Powderpuff Girls are color-coded and personality filled. This trio can shimmer and shine around the entire party. This can be a DIY costume with capes, matching skirts, and knee socks. Any way you do it this trio will be the most powerful trio by far.
This simple game that solves every discussion can be translated into a costume. This trio that fights one and loves the other hopefully won’t start a fight. Rock, Paper, and Scissors is a perfect trio for a creative trio who enjoys friendly competition.
This banana themed chaos will bring an unhinged level of energy and never goes out of style. A lot of yellow body paint, a banana, glasses, and blue overalls are all you need to look a-peel-ing this halloween. And it’s perfect to add more friends and a Gru could come along as well. No matter what, this costume will look despicably good on anyone.
Our last trio we recommend is the ghost busters prepared to fight all the Boooooooo’s, these matching jumpsuits and proton blasters are sure to win every award this halloween, this is a ghost-killer look just to make sure nobody crosses the stream.
Our last one is easy to pull off. Last second, one person dresses up vintage, one person dresses up in present fashion and gear, while the last person rocks a shiny futuristic fit matched with a ufo and LED’s. This is an easy way to make people pause in time and look at your costume. You can go medieval and knightly for the past, or keep it close and roll with fashion from the 90’s while the future can be a guess of the next 10 years, or the next century.
Squad costumes!! Yay so fun
This is for all of your big friend groups, those of you who always roll with a crew of four or more people. Squad costumes are great because they allow everybody to know who you are rolling with on Halloween.
To begin we will circle back to an individual consumer that can also go great with a group. You can go as Spiderman and all of your friends will go as the Avengers. Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Ant Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain America. But this is not all. You could also find your rival friend group and make them be the villains. This would add a certain kind of aura to your night. People would see y’all rolling down the street going door to door and fighting for the city. This is the endgame of all costumes.
Next up, the gang that fights the minister. And no, this isn’t the ghost busters. This is Scooby Dooby Doo and his gang. Shaggy, Velma, Fred, Daffney, and then the best of them all Scooby. People would come up to you on the street and ask you to find all the trouble that they have been getting into because of their ghosts. This is great for Charleston because y’all could all go on a ghost tour downtown. This way you will find your next mission which would not only make y’all to cool for school but you also create memories that would last a life time.
Going back to the individual ideas, the spin off will be to add oompa loompas to the Willy Wonka costume. The ones to do would be the cute ones from the first movie. Not the techno ones from the new one. The little white overalls are a great and useful thing to have even after halloween. Everybody will end up coming to you for the candy, mainly the Chocolate!! With Willy Wonka as the leader mixing in some oompas would add to the flair. This group would for sure get noticed by all. Think about this too. How cool would it be to roll with your boys down the halls and go teacher to teacher trick or treating and you got Wonka (Hershey) bars.
Mentioned by Jaidon Daley, he really wanted us to include this one. He thinks that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would make a great group costume. This would be a fighting force. Fighting in the dark of the night, in and out of the sewers. A quote from Jaidon Daley about how tuff the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be is that they “would be an awesome costume to pull up to any halloween party with bonus points if you bring a pizza.” This is high praise coming from the all state, state champ, dual varsity, captain, NBA household living man that is Mr. Daley. Any body that has this much accolades definitely knows what they are talking about when it comes to the coolness factors. Some have even said (he did) that he puts up prime Wilt Chamberlain numbers while at work.
The founding fathers are another great costume that you are a step back into time. Not only would you be properly representing your country but many others would also find you to be wise, with your bifocals, and long haired wigs. With how popular Hamilton is, your group could just roll around bumping “I am not throwing away my shot” and all the other songs that are in the musical. This would be economically friendly because you could also use these costumes at our annual USA football game which is always a fan favorite. But not only that you could also use it during the summer when the fourth of July rolls around. At the BBQ this would catch many eyes and everyone would love to see people paying homage to the people who created this country in which we thrive.
