Dear Apple, Give Us The Plain Light Pink Heart Emoji NOW

A review of random emojis. 🫣
Dear Apple, Give Us The Plain Light Pink Heart Emoji NOW

How often do you really think about the emojis you use? Are you aware that there are around 3,782 emojis? How many do you even actually use? Did you know that the emoji language was deemed the world’s fastest growing language by many experts? We felt like a lot of the emojis were underrepresented, so we decided to use a random emoji generator to help generate some odd emojis for us to do reviews of, and we also selected some on our own. This emoji review will consist of giving each emoji a score between 1-10, explaining why we do or don’t like them, our opinions on them in general, and an example of when the emoji could be used, plus possible additional commentary.

(*disclaimer: some of these descriptions were written in the wee hours of the morning, aka 2 am)

Purse

👛

Ranking: 4/10

Opinions:

It’s cute but it needs something a little bit more. This is also more of a coin pouch, than just a purse. But, I like how it’s pink.

When to use:

“OMG SOMEONE STOLE MY 👛”

“Your purse?”

“NO MY COIN POUCH 👛”

Commentary:

“It’s called a clutch, Jasmine” – Milla

https://emojipedia.org/purse says ‘Not to be confused with 👝Clutch Bag,’…Milla” – Jasmine

Lotion bottle

🧴

Ranking: 1/10

Opinions:

Why is this an emoji, and yet there are no binocular emojis? I need a peep with binoculars emoji! In what context would one use a lotion bottle emoji? In fact, when, in conversation, would a lotion bottle come up?

When to use:

There literally is no use.

Level Slider

🎚️

Ranking: 8/10

Opinions:

Yet again, why would one use this emoji? What purpose does it serve? I genuinely think Apple has gone off the deep end with these useless and pointless emojis. It’s a nice emoji, but yeah, in what circumstances would this emoji even be used? Level slider for what?? Honestly, it kind of looks like a level for a toaster.

When to use:

“Good morning 🎚!” (AKA, when you want to terrorize Senior Holly Manning. She loves this emoji, we promise. If you have her number, you know what to do…)

Like, look at all these emojis. They are just mirrors of each other or are the same as another emoji but just slightly modified.

Reminder Ribbon

🎗️

Ranking: 3/10

Opinions:

This is an awareness emoji, but of what exactly? We are unsure. Yellow ribbons are usually worn in support of the army and troops, but Apple just calls this the reminder ribbon, so… It’s cute though! The color gives mustard, but at least it’s not dijon.

Fun fact: This emoji has existed since 2015.

When to use:

“Hey, do you have a 🎗️I could borrow for the rally tomorrow?”

Commentary:

“Daphne from Scooby Doo wears that” – H

“Well, except it’s not an ascot and it’s not green…” – M

(Apparently) Ogre

👹

Ranking: 4/10

Opinions:

This is not an ogre. An ogre is green and looks like Shrek. This looks like the scariest, straight out of my nightmares, devil. However, insults aside, this emoji is fun to just send to friends to terrorize them. It’s just so silly!

When to use:

“Sweet dreams pookie! 👹”

Spoon

🥄

Ranking: 10/10

Opinions:

Perfection. What more could you ask for? This spoon emoji is the definition of perfection, with just the right amount of shadows and light. It’s just so petite.

When to use:

“Can you bring me a 🥄. Please be quick. My soup is getting cold!”

Person Frowning

🙍

Ranking: 7/10

Opinions:

One word: mood. It’s incredible how such a simple emoji can portray such a strong emotion. The detail is phenomenal. The crease of the brows, to the downturned eyes, to the downward curve of the corners of the mouth. I can literally see the tears welling up in the emoji’s eyes.

When to use:

“I woke up and realized I have school today 🙍”

Seat

💺

Ranking: 7/10

Opinions:

Bus? Train? Subway? Airplane? What kind of seat is this!? Nonetheless, it’s a pretty solid emoji. Although quite boxy and square for a seat, it looks comfortable, and armrests are always a plus.

When to use:

“Save me a 💺?”

(Coquette) Ribbon

🎀

Ranking: 10/10

Opinions:

COQUETTE! If you couldn’t tell, we love coquette. This emoji is just the right shade of pink and is in the perfect bow shape. Overall, just absolute perfection!

Fun fact: This emoji is “often used to indicate something is pretty, cute, or special, including on holidays.”

When to use:

“Are you coquette even? 🎀”

Woman Student

👩‍🎓

Ranking: 8/10

Opinions:

We love an educated woman. Hopefully we’ll be able to use this emoji as a description of ourselves in June…minus the goth lipstick.

When to use:

“I just graduated! 👩‍🎓”

Auto Rickshaw

🛺

Ranking: 4/10

Opinions:

This emoji is cute, but personally, not a big fan of the colors. The yellow and green are just very bright and kind of clash and the brown of the seats inside also don’t really go with the rest as well. The color palette gives tractor farm core/stalk of corn on wheels. Shoutout to “Shucked” on Broadway!

When to use:

“Let’s take the 🛺 to dinner.”

Fun fact: The auto rickshaw was originally created by the Japanese, the same people who made the hand drawn version, but it is commonly used in India to travel short distances within the city.

Woozy Face

🥴

Ranking: 6/10

Opinions:

It was exciting when this emoji was released because it was something new, but there honestly isn’t really an instance that arises where I feel the need to use it. Another pointless emoji Apple…

When to use:

“Just got off the rollercoaster and I’m feeling a little…🥴”

Eight Thirty

🕣

Ranking: -10/10

Opinions:

The most dreaded time of the day … when school starts (buh buh buuuuhhhhhh). Every student in CCSD is aware that at 8:30 the first bell rings. Besides that, what even is the purpose of all the clock emojis? Do people actually even use them? Does anyone even know how to read analog clocks anymore?

When to use:

“Will you be home by 🕣?”

Lobster

🦞

Ranking: 8 /10

Opinions:

Shoutout to senior Aubrey Hughes. You’ve inspired the inclusion of this emoji. The animal’s symmetry is astronomical, and the shadows and coloring are spectacular. The emoji so accurately portrays the anatomy of a lobster. If this lobster were to have a name, it would definitely be Larry.

When to use:

“Let’s celebrate with a 🦞 dinner!”

Fun fact: the lobster emoji was redesigned in 2018 after “people in Maine lost it over the fact that the original emoji had the wrong number of legs.”

Egg

🥚

Ranking: 10/10

Opinions:

In honor of Dr. Cassidy, we had to include the egg. (Throwback to our Heidi Halloween article). Apple knew exactly what they had to do and absolutely delivered with the egg emoji. It embodies egg so well. It’s the perfect egg shape and color.

When to use:

“Looking for the 🥚 to my peacock.”

Man in Lotus Position

🧘‍♂️

Ranking: 4/10

Opinions:

There’s nothing really special about this emoji, honestly. It’s just a man meditating. The details are great, but I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of the orange tank. The color almost blends into the yellow Simpson skin. And why is his hair corporate style? He’s doing yoga, not going to the office. Nonetheless, love a man who takes care of himself and is aware of the benefits of yoga.

When to use:

“Ohmmmmmm 🧘‍♂️”

I have never seen a man this calm before.

— Jasmine

Melon

🍈

Ranking: 3 /10

Opinions:

This looks like a grenade, not a melon. Also, what’s with the stem? With all the random emojis Apple has created, you would think they would have more melon emojis to represent both the honeydew melon and cantaloupe, but nope, this is it. While the color and details of the melon’s skin are nice, it’s just not really giving as much as it should. There could have been so much potential. Another thing is that Apple should have just made the emoji a slice of melon like they did with the watermelon emoji.

When to use:

“Shall I bring some 🍈 to the picnic?”

Women: Beard

🧔‍♀️

Ranking: 10/10

Opinions:

Did this emoji come out after the global phenomenon of “The Greatest Showman”? This was not senior Wilson Swenson’s favorite emoji, but his answer of “man in a wedding dress” was the inspiration for including this emoji. I (Jasmine) have to admit I did go through a phase of only using this emoji for a while when I didn’t know how to respond to a text.

When to use:

“🧔‍♀️”

Woman Shirt

👚

Ranking: 2/10

Opinions:

This woman’s shirt emoji heavily gives Mean Girls, “on Wednesdays we wear pink,” but we feel that it is a bit outdated. When will the default shape of a woman’s top stop being an hourglass? Honestly, most of the time, it is not even that flattering, and the fit isn’t universal. And why is it that the woman’s shirt is pink?! We demand more options Apple!

When to use:

“I need to go shopping and buy a 👚 for my interview next week”

Trackball

🖲

Ranking: 2/10

Opinions:

“What. What even is that? It’s a terrible emoji.” Honestly, enough said. How did this emoji even get approved? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE.

When to use:

“🖲???”

Commentary:

After doing further research on this emoji, we found that according to YayText, “If you are busy computing or gaming, you might send this emoji. Featuring a trackball, which is essentially the bottom part of a computer mouse, it can be used to show you are busy, busy, busy with your computing duties. A great alternative to a trackpad or mouse, the trackball is easy on the wrists and can make gaming so much easier.”

Sorry to the gamers if you were offended by our ignorance. We’ve educated ourselves now.

Emojis Apple should make:

  • Binoculars
  • Well (like a well where you can get water)
    • This screenshot is from 2020. I’m still waiting.
  • Plain light pink heart
    • Thank you for the pink heart emoji, but light pink, pretty please?
      • Dont be fooled, this image was created by light pink heart advocates. This does not exist.
  • Oompa Loompa
  • Blobfish
    • Just yet another factor contributing to their underrepresentation and underappreciation
  • Frowning Poop Emoji
      • It could be used to express unfortunate situations.
  • Water bottle
    • You would think it exists, but surprisingly, it doesn’t

Most used emojis of 2023:

  1. Crying with laughter 😂
  2. Rolling on the floor laughing 🤣
  3. Red heart ❤️
  4. Folded hands (alternatively known as praying hands) 🙏
  5. Loudly crying 😭

Emoji fun fact:

There is a World Emoji Day that is celebrated on June 17 because that’s the date that is displayed on the Calendar Emoji.

Some of the least used emojis include the fax machine, the CD emoji, and the receiving money emoji.

We hope this article has inspired you to think about how many emojis there actually are and that you should start incorporating them into your texts more.
