First Crêpe Sale of the Year!

You made me drop my croissant!!! 🥐🇫🇷🥖

Oui oui baguette? Je m’appelle? Parlez-vous français?

If you don’t, no worries. Let the crêpe speak for itself.

If this is not your first year at AMHS, you would definitely remember the crêpe sales the French National Honor Society put on multiple times throughout each year. However, if you are a budding freshman, this is just another reason to stay at THE Academic Magnet for your high school years: crêpes.

Hannah, Mason, Mary, and Mills, 4 of 6 FNHS officers, setting up for the first crêpe sale

You might be asking, what exactly is a crêpe? As President of Magnet’s FNHS, Mason Leath, would say, “it’s nothing, but also everything.” Traditionally, crêpes are made from flour, eggs, milk, and sugar. They can be savory or sweet, depending on the toppings you choose.

Mason also added that the servers, current FNHS members, “can customize them to make them however you want.” This past week, they offered fruit such as bananas, strawberries and blueberries, as well as sweet treats like Nutella, chocolate chips, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and Reese’s chocolate pieces. Could it get any better?

The crêpes are set up in the breezeway as if you are walking straight into the cafeteria. If you want to make the most of your lunch on crêpe day, you better hurry! The line will get long and toppings might run out.

With each sale, they raise money for different charities. Last year, they gave the money to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. This year, they are raising money and donating books for the education of French African children in Mali.

Along with the other members of the French National Honor Society, the officers play a large role in the execution of the sale itself. The officers for the 2019-2020 school year are:

Mason Leath, President

Hannah Forman and Davis Leath, Co-Vice Presidents

Molly Dickerson, Secretary

Mills Jordan, Treasurer

Mary Routh, Sergeant at Arms

Mary is in charge of Taco Tuesday espionage

Along with the students, Dr. Altman and Mr. Jent are the fearless leaders for the French Honor Society. They run the behind-the-scenes actions and are the backbone to the society.

FNHS sells each crêpe for $2 or you can get 2 for $3. Make sure to listen to the announcements to know when the next crêpe sale is! Also, they will accept cash AND Venmo, so don’t fret, you will get your crêpe.
