This game was rough on both sides, from the boring first half to the subpar performance from each of the quarterbacks, this was one of the more boring super bowls as of recently. Sam Darnold, the man who survived his time in the Jets to get to Seattle, had an accuracy of 50% with just over 200 yards passing and 1 passing touchdown in this super bowl. On the losing side, Drake “Drake Maye” Maye, who everyone has been loving on this season, and hated on for their very weak schedule, threw for 295 yards with a passing accuracy of 62%. Drake Maye also threw for 2 touchdowns but also had 2 very costly interceptions and 1 fumble lost. The super bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker III ran for 135 yards while the former super bowl MVP, Cooper Kupp, had 62 receiving yards, showing that he still can play contrary to some people’s beliefs. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 3-0 leading to irritation of fans. What caused more irritation was that the score only being 9-0 at half time with the Seahawks in the lead. People on social media were seen joking about how the Seahawks kicker, Jakobi Myers was going to be the super bowl MVP, and this belief did end up strengthening in the third quarter as the score was brought up to 12-0 with all of the points being from field goals by Myers. The game finally started to pick up in the 4th quarter when the Seahawks scored a passing touchdown to A. Barner making the score 19-0. The Patriots quickly countered with a touchdown of their own, a 35 yard bomb to M.Hollins. The Seahawks came back down but did get stopped leading to Myers having to kick his 5th field goal of the night, making the score 22-7 and seem as if there was no hope for the Patriots to come back. Drake Maye then went down and threw an interception to D. Witherspoon but the Seahawks didn’t capitalize off of it. Drake Maye then went down again and threw another interception to U. Nwosu but they did capitalize off of it and actually scored a pick-six. In a last ditch effort, the Patriots went down and scored a passing touchdown to Stevenson for some pity points to end off the super bowl 29-13. Something to keep in mind is that this was a game of defenses as the Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye, was pressured 19-23 times according to some sources showing just how good this Seahawk defense is. The pressures weren’t all that happened as Maye was sacked 6 times, striking fear and possibly mistakes in this game, meaning that their defense was game changing. The Halftime show was also something that caused mass controversy throughout America, some believe that he shouldn’t perform and some believe that it is a symbol for uniting all of America, but one thing that is a fact is that over 128 million people watched this show on average. Gavin Newsome commented on the performance saying, Before the game, Green Day performed but had to cut out some inappropriate lyrics which caused some people to be mad as it was their favorite part of the song, but overall, this super bowl was one to remember as it had ups and downs, and the defenses of each team are something to keep in mind going forward.
