- If the Kansas vs BYU game did not make it any more clear, Daryn Peterson is the clear-cut alpha, number one pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. I have not watched anyone who scores at three levels quite like him. He can spot-up shoot in a Klay-esque manner, and has a Curry aura while he is creating shots. You simply cannot leave him unguarded outside the perimeter. But even if you lock up that area of his game, he can pull up from mid-range like KD. And by the very small possibility that you can take all of his shooting and floater game away, then – BLAMMMMMM (crowd screams HEYYY) he takes it to the rack and Baptizes whoever deserves to be positioned under the rim. He is dominant in every part of the game and is an easy choice for first overall pick.
- AJ Dunbanzta is an athletic freak and would be a top pick in a lot of different drafts. Unfortunately, he plays in the same year as Daryn Peterson. Unlucky, but this does not take away from his immense talent. I have been watching AJ since high school, and no one has a better mixtape than him. He dunks everything and can make anything. Once he starts backing down his defender, you know a fade away is coming – Splat. He is just so dynamic it feels like you can play him at any position. He can go for a lot, like he did against Utah, but I think what limits him is he seems to shy away from big moments. He just does not seem to rise to the occasion as much as Darren Peterson.
- Caleb Wilson, in a battle between top North Carolina prospects, I should come out tough. While Boozer is great, I simply think Wilson has a much higher ceiling. Wilson’s athleticism is just insane and his game is so pure. He almost has a Paul George smoothness to his game with a Russell Wilson explosiveness, he is another one of those prospects that could be a higher pick in a different draft or at a different time.
- The fourth pick is the last of the big four, but is still a premier player. Next drafted will be a player who has completely mastered the fundamentals of basketball. This is someone who completes a game with a no-fun mentality but at the same time will always get buckets. Cameron Boozer is truly following in his father’s footsteps as an NBA superstar. He manages the game at Duke with such a crazy level of confidence and professionalism that he seriously draws teams to him. He can slow down the game to his pace and score very efficiently. He is truly an amazing presence in the paint and will fit well into any offense he is drafted into. The only reason he is not a part of the top 3 is because I just don’t think he is as dynamic as the others. He definitely has a higher floor than some, but his athleticism relegates him to the bottom in terms of potential. However, one thing that really boosts him for me is his passing ability. He almost slightly Jockic like because of the way he sees the floor.
