The last spirit week of the year has come to an end, and thus the final wall of the senior class has fallen. As we close this chapter, it seems only fitting to reflect on our past successes and our multitude of failures in order to educate the next generation on what makes up an amazing wall. In order to do this I will be ranking each wall on based on four factors which are as follows: Stability (A walls longevity and ability to remain standing), Artistry (Enticing design and attention to detail), Wall Presentation (Ability to fill the space and overall look), Dress Up (Participation and quality of wall related outfits). All of these factors will be ranked on a scale from one through ten. Cumulative scores will be used to determine final wall rank.
Beach (Hawaii):

The beach wall, formerly known as the Hawaii wall, was the first wall ever created by the class of 26. It was a work of sheer brilliance, most notably regarded for the presence of the “doodle wall” shown in the image above. While this iconic tapestry took up half of the wall, the other side was decked out in photo back drops, streamers, beach chairs, and even a volcano that we retroactively discovered we weren’t allowed to put a smoke machine in. The soundtrack for this wall included beachy music, one standout tune being “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” from the movie Lilo and Stitch. Overall, this wall was not our best but definitely a start. Although the wall fell more than once, participation and spirits were high giving this wall an overall score of 15/40.

Beach (Hawaii):

The Candyland wall was without a doubt the most colorful wall the senior class has ever created. This wall was created for Spring spirit week in the year 2023. It was decked out with streamers, balloons, and tiny candy details. However, the paper covering for this wall was very heavy and poorly secured, causing it to fall a multitude of times. In addition, this wall was particularly hard to dress up for, leading to lower participation. Overall though, this wall was very cute and colorful but definitely not our best.

Pirates:

There is no doubt in my mind that the class of 2026 won wall day with the Pirate wall. As those present would remember, the Fall pep rally in the year 2023 was the only time ever in Magnet history (that we were present for), that spirit week event winners were not announced individually. Instead, only the overall winner was announced. For this reason, I maintain that we won with this wall. The pirate wall was a work of art, containing 3 pirate ships, a treasure map, cannon, Jack Sparrow, and other fun details such as wanted posters of classmates and plundered goods from other classes’ walls. In addition, this wall was easy to dress for and the outfits were cool. The Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack brought it all together to make the perfect storm. This wall lives on in infamy as the best (in my opinion).

USA:

The Spring Wall of 2024 was not only the first, but also the ultimate USA wall. It contained national landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty, the Hollywood sign, and even a replica of the White House. This wall was large scale, fun to make, easy to dress for, and at the time, an original idea. For these reasons the USA wall ranks fairly high in the line up of past wall days.

Men In Black:

The Men In Black wall was a brilliant introduction of the now commonplace alien wall. This wall was built in the Fall of 2024. It contained a multitude of handpainted and artistically crafted figures such as the little girl and alien pictured in the image above. While this wall was good (slightly unstable, but good) it is most widely remembered for the fabulous outfits that came with it. Nearly the entire class came to school in full suits, some with badges, others with cool sunglasses. It was without a doubt the best turnout for participation and definitely showed a unified front.

Fairy Tales:

The Fairy Tale wall was one of our most artistic creations. Built in Winter of 2025, this wall contained a handpainted, homemade castle as well as Rupunzel’s tower, hand painted lanterns, large flower covered trees, and other movie memorabilia. This wall was one of my personal favorites because it was adorable. However there are few pictures of it as it was built immediately following the phone ban. The outfits corresponding to this wall were not as cohesive as some of the other walls but there were a plethora of fairies, princesses, kings, and knights. This wall was adorable, sturdy enough, and very nostalgic.

Nightmare Before Christmas:

The Nightmare Before Christmas wall was definitely one of the most entertaining to build and contained a multitude of elements, from the Christmas scene in the senior lounge to the giant well in the Key. This wall was slightly difficult to dress for. However, I am willing to forgive it as a necessary evil. My favorite part of this wall was that it took place on Halloween and the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack made it the perfect level of spooky.

Jurassic Park:

The Jurasic Park wall was the most recent and final wall. The senior lounge centered around a destroyed lab while the Key focused on a ravaged campsite. This wall was structurally the best wall ever built by our class. It also contained lots of fun details like posters lining the stairway, cardboard dinosaurs, and randomly scattered limbs. The music for this wall was also great. At first it was the opening theme for the movie, then it slowly shifted into Shakira songs. I support both.

Overall, our class has seen failure and glory in terms of walls. Now that we’re done, its time for the underclassmen to step up.
