Beyond the Jersey: The Varsity Captain Leading AMHS Basketball
The Daley Life Chronicle 2
In the final moments of a game there is only one person who all 4 players look for on the court. His stature and presence on the court is unmatched by any other player. Our senior captain #5 Jaidon Daley is an icon of greatness and athleticism. In this article we are going to do a deep dive into the Daley life of our captain. At 5:30 Jaidon’s alarm goes off and he rises up ready for the day. He hops into a cold shower which wakes him up for his first lift of the day. This is only after he eats his protein filled breakfast consisting of 5 strips of bacon and a dozen eggs. He lifts for about an hour, he said, this is from 6:00am to 7:00 am. Then he prepares for his journey to school, after he washes up. His drive is about 45 minutes to school so he likes to get there early and discuss plays with his teammates. His first block he reviews films in class with me as I have both first blocks with Jaidon. Then for blocks 2-3 he focuses on all his school work and homework. In his fourth block he prepares for his basketball after school. He eats a healthy snack and makes sure to hydrate.Â
When he gets out of school it is either a game or practice Monday through Friday. For practice he likes to stay at school because his practice starts at 4:00 so he just prepares mentally. If he has a game he likes to go eat a tropical smoothie and eat a healthy smoothie and chicken pesto flatbread. He gets to the games first to watch and support our JV and girls teams. When the boys get into the locker room Jaidon motivates and supports his teammates all the way till tipoff. At tipoff Jaidon is the first to receive the ball, he drops a triple double Daley and leads his team to wins.Â
After the game, Win or Lose he either celebrates or reflects on the game. After his practice or game he does a late night workout to finish his day and another cold shower which helps him sleep his best at night. As our basketball season continues, it is clear that Jaidon Daley will drive us to greatness and hopefully a playoff run. His ability as a player does not come close to his presence as a leader. Jaidon wants young players to succeed and for growth of the program.
He says we are built up too much in our academics and not unlocking our full ability. This captain while his stats are amazing is not going to be remembered just for his numbers but, for the standard he plans to set into the program.

I personally have shared the court with him in basketball and field with him in soccer. He truly is a leader and so talented. You can tell he puts the work in Daley and whoever wrote this wrote a perfect article reflecting this. He deserves this praise so much and I’m glad he finally gets it
