After our previous article, which was on predicting where seniors would go to college, we wanted to follow up and see if anything has changed. Now that the early action and early decision applications have been submitted, we wanted to see how they are feeling about their choices, and see what their reasons for going are going to be.
Riley Shelly: He wants to go to William and Mary because he says, “they have a good law program and that is something I would like to get into.” Furthermore, he mentioned William and Mary being in a historical town with many buildings from the 17th century, and the architecture from this time intrigues him. Additionally, he says that overall they are a great educational institution, and he thinks that the environment would be a great fit for him.
Blake Yarborough: Blake’s dream school is University of South Carolina. This is influenced by his family around USC. He looks forward to having future “brothers” as he intends on joining a fraternity. His initial love for the college comes from his mother going there, as well as his grandma living in the area, leading to him going to many games growing up, which made it a haven for Blake. The immense business program also catches Blake’s eye, as he would like to go into finance.
William (Billy) Baer: Since his freshman year and even before, he knew that the University of Virginia would be for him. His family is deeply rooted in the school and he has always grown up taking trips to Virginia and falling in love with Charlottesville. With two siblings already there, he would basically be going back home.
Parker Hamilton: Parker already committed to the Citadel similar to fellow article writer Bennett Bair. He says he would like to go to the Citadel for the possible connections he will create after college when looking for a career. He is excited to build a hard work ethic. From the 5AM workouts to the potential hunger strike that might go down, Parker will be constructing a mental state that should go on to help him greatly in his future.
Matthew Semenoff: Matthew would love to go to Princeton. He used to be in that area a lot as a kid in New Jersey before moving to South Carolina for apple picking, giving the school a sense of nostalgia. Furthermore, he is appalled by the prestige of Princeton as it is very highly ranked.
Jack Tierney: Jack’s dream school would be Oxford. He believes it would be amazing to live in England. That along with the school’s world wide high ranking and notability drives Jack’s desire to attend Oxford.
Cole McGowan: App State, he says that it is a beautiful campus in a pretty place, Boone NC. He thinks that they have a good honors program and could see himself living it up for the next four years.
Molly Tombs: She would love to go to The University of South Carolina. She also would love to join Greek life. She is going to apply to the honors college and fingers crossed it works out for her and she can have a wonderful four years in the land in which they call Columbia. She intends to major in journalism, this is perfect for her because she is one of our editors in chief here at the Talon. Molly has what it takes to thrive in that field and she is going to go great things in college and after.
Reed Clendaniel: Reed’s dream school is Bowling Green. He would love to attend because he enjoys the weather of the area as well as the student culture there. He also believes the quality education you can receive here is worth the affordable price compared to other schools around the nation.
Sam Galloway: Sam says that Clemson is the place for him. With their wonderful engineering program, which he intends to study, and the fact that he has grown up a Clemson fan for his whole life would make Sam a perfect fit for the upstate school. His father even played baseball for them, which is very interesting. Sam, we hope the best for you.
Jacob Lipschutz: With his intended major being political science, Jacob intends to take his world knowledge to the University of Maryland. If you have even been in history class with Jacob then you know that he knows everything about what is going on in the world and he would thrive in Maryland. He also has some family up there and he has gone up many times and has since fallen in love with the school and the area that it is in.
Sam Abney: For Sam, the world of colleges is his oyster but he more than anything else would love to go to Wake Forest. When asked why he wanted to go to Wake Forest he said “Umm I don’t know”. Well Sam, we hope you find out why you want to go there soon because the time is coming up sooner than you think. But we know that you are going to thrive up there and we hope that it all works out for you. On further thought he said that “I like the size, I like the people, and it is good for my major.” Sam, that is AWESOME. Here at the Talon, we are very excited for you.
Davis Maiden: His dream school is Georgia. This is very fitting for Davis and he hopes to get into the honors college which he says is one of the best. We hope that he is excited for it because when we asked if that was where he wanted to go he said “sure bro.” Good luck in Athens Davis!
After talking to all of these seniors, we hope that they get into these schools that they have worked so hard for the past years to get into. We will make sure to do a follow up article for all of the wandering minds who will be wanting to know where their seniors are going.
