Coffee Club is without a doubt the most energetic club at Magnet. It was founded by students from the Magnet Class of 2025 who came up with the idea in Dr. Hay’s study hall their freshman year. Coffee Club runs Monday through Thursday in the gym concession stand during lunch with exceptions for blood drives, testing days, and ice cream socials. It was formed for the purpose of giving students access to caffeine to get through their day, specifically fourth block if you happen to have Seminar. Lattes, matcha, chai, hot chocolate, and tea are just a few of the beverages available for purchase, most of which contain caffeine. Also available is straight espresso for those who are fun or on a time crunch.
Although Coffee Club does not do specific service projects, the whole club revolves around service as all profits from sales go towards the Coffee Trust, an organization that supports Guatemalan coffee farmers. Coffee Club has donated hundreds of dollars to this fund and aims to dramatically exceed their donation from last year through everyday sales and fun events that are still in the works. In addition to raising money, Coffee Club also provides its members with the opportunity to get service hours by making coffee which might just objectively be the best way to volunteer.
Although volunteers run Coffee Club from day to day, the behind the scenes operations are managed by the leadership. Executive officers for this club include co-presidents Kyler Richardson and Madalynn Howe, treasurer Lillian Patterson, volunteer coordinator Jill Gunn, and advertising coordinator Kate Selvitelli who would like to sincerely advise everyone to follow Coffee Club on Instagram. As the entire board of executives are currently seniors, next year’s executive officers are currently being decided on. Coffee Club’s teacher sponsor is Dr. Hay.
If you want to get involved in Coffee Club there are multiple ways to do so. One way is to participate in coffee cup decorating. This involves making fun designs and writing nice messages on the cups Coffee Club uses to hold their beverages. for those more economically inclined is to buy some coffee. The menu is attached to this article. Yes, this is shameless advertising. Overall, Coffee Club is a fairly open and entertaining club environment for those who need a cup of coffee or a laugh as a lunch time pick me up.
