The Magnet Boys Volleyball team consists of 4 Seniors, 3 Juniors, 1 Sophomore, and 2 Freshmen. The Seniors on the team are Ben Hynes, William Sander, Paul Simmons, and Riley Shelley. Ben Hynes (Ben_Hynes_Volleyball) isn’t just a skyscraper who can taste the clouds, he’s the key pillar and team captain of the team. Paul (“Cutie Patootie” – Ben Hynes)Simmons is one of the strongest forces the team has as even the team captain calls him a stud and a great player.
We asked Ben Hynes, a captain of the Boys Volleyball team a few questions and here was his responses:
What is your favorite volleyball moment throughout your years at magnet?
Who is your favorite teammate?
What is your favorite hype song?
Who do you expect to grow the most on the volleyball team?
Ben’s favorite moment on the volleyball team during his career at magnet was the indian land tournament last year as “it was just fun to travel as a team for a day and spend the day together”. Ben’s favorite teammate on the team is Finn as he “is just a character and a great guy and all the ladies should hit him up”, no arguments here on the last part but the comradery in this Magnet team is something to take in mind. Ben’s go-to song for hyping himself up is Brain Stew by Greenday because “the guitar just hits right” which is honestly the most valid thing I have heard all day. In Ben’s opinion, the most improved player on the volleyball team is Arslan as he “continues to hustle as much both during practice and games and I think he truly wants to improve and get better”.
William Sander’s favorite moment on the volleyball team was when the team all ate food together as it was a “bonding experience” that was special to him. William’s favorite teammate is Riley as “he is my warmup partner and we hang out before practice everyday”, and that is what we call true friendship. William’s favorite hype song is Beat It by Michael Jackson as it is “a fast paced song and I like it”, although this is a plain response, the song speaks louder than his words as this masterpiece is a classic hype song around the world. William expects Finn to be the player to grow the most as “this is his first year as the starting setter and I believe that he will grow the most in his new role”.
