The College Football season has just recently started back up again! From the course of Thursday, August 28th to Tuesday August 31st we saw several competitive and fun games from the superior college football conference: The Southeastern Conference. In these games we saw sneaky previews for the season to come, we saw players who may be having a redemption season, players that look like first week flops, and all that is in between. In this article I will be breaking down all SEC teams in terms of week one, and my predictions for the rest of the year.
- Mississippi State: Mississippi state did pull off a win in the first week of the season, but it was not very convincing. The Mississippi State defense dropped 17 points to a flawed and inexperienced Southern Miss offense. The youth on this team does not look the most promising.
- Kentucky: Kentucky started the College Football season off like Mississippi State with an unconvincing win against Toledo. The air game from Kentucky did not look great as Toledo Quarterback Ty Gleason outpassed the Kentucky Quarterback in passing.
- Vanderbilt: Vanderbilt did complete a convincing win against Charleston Southern, dominantly winning the game 45-3, they were put lower on this list due to the dominance of most SEC teams week one, but I have questions for their future against more formidable opponents, as Charleston Southern is not the greatest challenge.
- Auburn: Auburn looked solid through week one, winning their game against Baylor and projecting their offensive dominance by scoring 38 points, but they ended up giving away 24 points to a Baylor offense whose quarterback threw for 418 yards and 3 touchdowns.
- Oklahoma: Oklahoma had an alright first game against an untalented Illinois state who only dropped 3 points. John Mateer has looked solid, dropping nearly 400 yards and 3 touchdowns. This team dropped a moderately convincing 35 points.
- Texas A&M: Texas A&M was pretty dominant in their game against UTSA, with star Quarterback Marcel Reed dropping a comfortable 289 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, they let up 24 points to an untalented UTSA team, which does not grant them higher up on the list.
- Alabama: Alabama looked very promising in preseason and before their first game. However, after their first game against Florida State, they do not look as promising as was thought by many experts. For their repertoire and tendency to bounce back they are granted a higher spot, but it did not look promising.
- Missouri: Missouri was very dominant in their first game of the season against Central Arkansas, only allowing six points, and scoring 61 points in return. Senior Beau Pribula looked dominant, having a pass completion of over 60% and nearly 300 yards in the air.
- Arkansas: Arkansas dominated Alabama A&M, destroying A&M through the air as Taylen Green had a grand total of six touchdowns in the air. This teams future looks bright as they have many returning seniors who pose a threat to the SEC
- Tennessee: The loss of Nico Iamleava did not seem to stunt this team at all, with Senior transfer Joey Aguilar leading his team to a victorious game against Syracuse, dropping 250 yards in his debut win.
- Florida: Florida had a convincing win against Long Island University, producing a shutout and simply dominating the course of the game. DJ Lagway is a highly regarded second year quarterback who looked solid as predicted in his 2025 season debut.
- USC: USC, although they did not look great in their first half against a solid Virginia Tech team, sealed the deal and pulled through in the end against the Hokies. Highly anticipated talents LaNorris Sellers and Dylan Stewart hope to have a spectacular season ahead of them, and it is seeming to look that way.
- Ole Miss: Ole Miss looked extremely dominant in their first game, comfortably winning 63-7 against Georgia State. Quarterback Austin Simmons had some great moments through their game, and many of the incredible talents acquired through the transfer portal showed why they were highly regarded as one of the best transfer classes this year.
- Georgia: This year per usual looks promising for the Bulldogs, beating Marshall by 38. Quarterback Gunner Stockton showed off his talent last year and continues to present his talent in his second year as a starter. The defense of this team looks very good and is a threat to all opponents.
- LSU: By far the best performance this week. The real Tigers appeared unaffected by Clemson’s “Death Valley” and beat Clemson in an entertaining 4th quarter. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier looked almost flawless in his first game, and LSU’s defense put plenty of pressure on one of the Heisman favorites Cade Klubnik.

I really like this article, but the NFL picture on top confuses me, and your rankings seem kind of biased. I feel as though logic was thrown out the window and you made these based on the teams you like and dislike!
