Best and Hardest Classes At Magnet

Best+and+Hardest+Classes+At+Magnet

Every year we all wonder what classes to take. Whether or not you want to challenge yourself in a hard class or take a fun class to ease the stress of magnet, this is the article for you. There’s no right or wrong answer because we all have different schedules and may need an easier or harder class to balance out our schedule. Please note that some classes are no longer taught by the teacher listed but from my experience, they need to be listed because of the experience that the teacher provided.

Best Classes: For those who want to have a good time.

  1. PE with Ms. Williams– Probably the best class that you will ever take at magnet. Although it is still a fun class, it is not the same as it was when the iconic Sharon Williams was teaching it. If you had her then you know what I’m talking about.
  2. Computer Science with Corson– Another iconic class of magnet that is no longer the same due to the teacher. As everyone knows Fred Corson has moved on from magnet leaving a great memory. However, even though he is not here anymore, this is still a fun and easy class.
  3. APCSP with Corson– The exact same as above but you get an AP credit.
  4. Newspaper– Although there are a limited number of spots, everyone needs to apply for this class. It’s very laid back and Ms. Hurt is very flexible and understanding. She allows us to write about almost anything we want creating a fun environment where you even get to work with others whenever you want.
  5. History with Flanigan– Mr. Flanigan is a staple of magnet and even though we can not control it, you need to experience his class.
  6. History with Galizia– Mrs. Galizia is another teacher who has left but her class was one of the most relaxing classes at this school. This is due to her calm mindset and ability to understand students. It was an easy class that allowed students to relax and destress.
  7. Film and Fiction/Creative Writing– Although I’ve never had this class everyone says how much they loved it. Sadly film and fiction is no longer a class but it sounded amazing considering all they did was watch movies. But Creative writing is still a class that you should consider taking.
  8. Honors Statistics– This is another class that I haven’t taken but is perfect for seniors who are not planning on taking advanced math in college and want an easy A. AP is another good option if you want a little more of a challenge.
  9. English with Novinger– I’m not an English person so the only reason that I liked this class was Ms. Novinger. She made the class extremely fun and was also a flexible teacher.
  10. Marine Biology– A good senior class if you don’t know what to take. It’s pretty laid back and you get to go on a bunch of fun field trips throughout the year like the beach and aquarium.

And of course:

Focus– I don’t need to explain.

Hardest Classes: For those who want to challenge themselves and further prepare themselves for college.

  1. Multivariable Calc- I can only imagine how hard this class is considering how much I’m struggling in AB. The fact that there are less than 20 kids in this class should explain the difficulty. But if you plan on taking advanced math in college and have the prerequisites for this class then go for it.
  2. AP Calculus BC- This is the exact same class as AB but with additional content. Therefore, this class is much faster paced and includes harder content with less time to go over each subject. So good luck.
  3. AP Physics C- Physics can be a hard enough class and this class finds a way to add calculus to the mix.
  4. AP Calculus AB- I’m currently in this class and can tell you that it’s extremely hard. I recommend taking it if you plan on taking calculus classes in college but beware that you actually have to practice and do the homework in order to get at least a B.
  5. AP Environmental with McCormick- I’ve been told that this class involves cramming an extreme amount of information into your head in a very little period. A student also told me that in addition to being overloaded with work and labs, “reading the textbook is the bane of my existence”.

Honorable Mention:

AP Euro– This is a popular class but beware it entails a lot of work. Mrs. Orr really prepares you for the AP exam but that means lots of reading in the textbook and hard tests. If you want to take an easier AP history then possibly consider AP Government.
