Angels wear Prada too

Inspired by Vogue

You may know her from her signature outfits or by the popular (but currently inactive) Instagram account @lilyslatestlooks. Lily Peterson is a senior with a life like no other. She has a passion for fashion, crazy work ethic, and will most likely be the next Anna Wintour. To discover more about one of the most interesting (and kind) AMHS seniors, I followed the format of Vogue’s 73 Questions videos to learn more about Lily, and give you a brief tour of her New York-inspired bedroom and closet.

Q: How are you today?

Lily’s bed area, featuring her dog, Marigot

A: Very sick but we are getting through it.

Q: Describe your style in 3 words

A: Oof probably random, bold, and confusing.

Q: When did you become interested in fashion?

A: I’ve kinda always loved clothes but in middle school, this guy told me it was impossible to wear a different outfit every day without repeating and for the rest of the year I never wore the same thing twice just to prove him wrong. So that was probably when I started to go crazy about clothes.

Q: What are some of your favorite brands?

A: Moschino, Miu Miu, the Attico, Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent (I have way too many).

Q: Who is your style icon?

Seating area

A: I have so many it’s insane: Marie Von Behrens, Alessandro Michele, Jessica Minkoff, Blaire Eadie, Blake Lively, Olivier Rousteing…

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A: All I want is a Doberman named Prada and to live in NYC (but mainly the Doberman).

Q: How often do you go to NYC?

A: I’ve been to NYC five times just this year but I usually go at least once or twice a year.

Q: What is your favorite place in NYC?

A: The Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art and anywhere around Central Park, but I honestly just

love to walk around NYC and look up at the buildings.

Q: Tell me more about your bedroom (like what was your inspiration/unique things about it)

A: I was kinda hoping that if my room looked like a store I wouldn’t want to buy as much stuff (it didn’t work). plus I LOVE the Alice and Olivia flagship in NYC so basically everything in my room is either inspired by or from there. I was also running out of room in my closet so my bed is actually a giant dresser and I put up shelves and the clothing rack in order to get more space.

Q: Approximately how many pairs of shoes do you own?

A: Sophomore year I counted 435 pairs… so it’s probably near 500 now (that sounds psychotic)

Q: What is your favorite item of clothing?

A: I think it changes every week but right now it’s either this vintage Moschino graffiti mini dress or this Basquiat inspired

Decorative clothing rack

sweater I got at an artist pop-up in SoHo.

Q: Is it true that you are making your own prom dress this year? How’s that going?

A: I am! I should be working on that but right now but I keep going back and forth with working on my prom dress and then portfolio pieces so pretty much all I have is a muslin. It’ll be a miracle if I ever get it finished.

Q: Besides doing fashion related things, what do you like to do?

A: I honestly can’t think of anything not related to clothes or shopping so probably just traveling and hanging out with my dogs.

Q: Favorite subject in school?

A: History (I freaking love European history).

Q: Least favorite subject?

A: MATH.

Q: Tell me more about your dogs:

A: They are the greatest things on this planet; Brooklyn is my English Bulldog and Marigot is a rescue from Sint Maarten and they are ADORABLE, they are literally the only things that keep me somewhat sane. I just got them matching PJs and Christmas sweaters. Brookie has a navy argyle turtleneck and Marigot has a little red sweater with a Christmas tree on it (they are so cute, they make me want to cry).

Q: If you could time travel to any place/time in history based solely on the fashion of that time where would you go?

A: The 1920s or wayyy back to the 1700s in France (those dresses are insane).

Q: How many different hair colors have you had?

A: I’m not sure but A LOT, I first dyed my hair blondish in fourth grade and it’s been blue, black, red, (I try to forget about the yellow, orange, and grey) white, and back to brown since.

Q: What is the most inconvenient thing about having long nails?

Brooklyn the bulldog

A: This is gonna sound gross but when stuff gets under them it’s the worst thing in the world. It’s almost impossible to keep them clean so thank god they are always painted.

Q: How many cokes do you drink each day?

A: It used to be five but I’ve gotten better, it’s usually like two (but if I’m having a bad day it’s 5+)

Q: Favorite animal?

A: Sharks (specifically spotted wobbegongs which sounds fake but they are the coolest things ever)

Q: Favorite color to wear?

A: Black or bright purple.

Q: Finally, if you could give one piece of fashion advice to everyone in the world, what would it be?

A: I think the best advice is to just dress like you and not anybody else. It sounds kinda cheesy but clothes always look best on a person that loves what they are wearing.
