I surveyed the teachers at Magnet and asked about their favorite childhood memories, and here’s a little peek into their childhoods! It is nice to read about their childhood and get to know them past what we see in the classroom.
Mrs. Akery –

“My favorite childhood memory is taking naps with my mom on the weekends. She worked about 60 hours a week and was a single mom for a while. It made me happy to be with her when she could relax.”
This is a sweet and precious memory, I can tell that they care about each other deeply and it shows Mrs. Akery’s appreciation and love for her family. It’s nice that they got to take a moment to be still with each other when they could. I bet Mrs. Akery’s younger self would be proud of all her hard work now!
Ms. Langley –

“Waking up on the screened in porch at opossum creek in TN to the smell of Meemaw’s biscuits, followed by a game of horseshoes, fishing, swimming and playing cards until night fell. Then it was listening to the bugs and the family sing and play guitar country. Ground hog day!!!!”
This sounds like a lot of fun and she probably has a lot of memories made at that creek with her family. I can almost imagine it as I read, no wonder it is her favorite!
Mrs. Patrick –

“I was the flower girl in a family friend’s wedding, but the bride let me choose my dream dress and made sure I got lots of photos of the dance. It was more fancy than her own! I felt like a princess! And, I had such a crush on the ring bearer, so getting to dance with him was perfect!”
What an adorable memory! I can tell how special and meaningful this day and the dress was for her, even better with that she got to dance with her crush. It is sweet that the bride let her choose her own dress too.
Ms. Callicott –

“Travelling to France when I was 10 and exploring the Normandy countryside.”
Travelling to France would definitely make a lasting impression, especially seeing the beautiful countryside. From what I have seen from pictures online, it looks like a stunning place with lots of history and culture.
Overall, it was interesting to learn about all these sweet memories from our teachers.
