Final Senior Checklist
The countdown starts now!
With the 2022-2023 school year coming to a close, there are still many things seniors need to complete before they walk the stage at graduation. Here is a list of all of the events that will take place between now and graduation. If you are looking for underclassmen advice for the end of the year, Katherine Nguyen’s article might be a better help.
AP Exams: From May 1-12, our final AP Exam period will commence. Not to quote administration, but at least make some attempt to do well on these tests. If you can get that college credit, it will save you time and valuable money. However, if you don’t care about that, the bragging rights for passing a super hard AP test are definitely worth it.
AP Picnic: Who knows how many seniors will be in attendance, but if you ordered a yearbook, I would recommend popping in to grab it. Also, make use of the free food.
Finals week: Senior finals go from May 12-18. Make sure you check if you have a final exam on on that Friday. To all my fellow Honors Econ warriors, good luck. Also make sure you get that beautiful, bright piece of paper signed.
Last Day of School: After May 19, Seniors have absolutely no reason to be in the building during the school day (unless you have makeup testing). We’ve been dreaming of this day since 2019, so let’s push through until the end.
Athletic Banquet: Our Raptors in athletics will have their final banquet on May 17. If you participated in a sport this year, come and support your team and any awardees for the year.
Senior trip: Raptors take Florida (May 25-28) is going to sneak up before we know it. We’re going to Disney, Universal, a water park, and Medieval Times, so make sure you pack accordingly. Check out Emily Byrne’s Senior Trip Packing List.
Senior Awards Ceremony: Although confusing for our Editor, Katherine Nguyen, attendance at the awards ceremony is very much required. This is where some teachers and students will make remarks on the past four years and various awards are given. This is on May 31.
Graduation Practice: Graduation practice will take place on June 1 and is at school. Think of this like Christmas Eve, but for graduation. It is also a great time to practice not tripping in front of everyone.
GRADUATION!: On June 2, 2023 at 2:30 pm, the Magnet Class of 2023 will begin the end of their time as Academic Magnet students. Once we have sat through what feels like hours of speeches, the seniors will walk across the stage of the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and be free of the torment of Academic Magnet High School.
To my fellow seniors, we are almost there! Although it seems like May is never going to end, in the grand scheme of things, it’s only a fraction of the time we’ve spent in this building. Good luck on finals and APs! Peace out Class of 2023.
