Make Magnet Meme Pages Great Again

A call for the revival of an art form

My Freshman year, there was a wide variety of instagram Academic Magnet meme pages. I actually looked at them to decide whether or not I wanted to come. Unfortunately, they died along with covid. As Ellyse Ramos says “memes were a part of Magnet culture”. It is tragic to think that the next generation could grow up without viewing Magnet meme pages.

The story of meme page past:

@Fungeometry

Originally a crucial part of the Magnet meme community, Fun Geometry’s last post was on June 3rd, 2022, but their last meme was posted on February 8th, 2021. Their posts became more sparse as Covid occurred, but in their defense, they did post a meme about how they were ghosting us so…

@funalgebra2

This page had a short run, only from September to October of 2019, but they ended on a strong note with a meme telling everyone to love and cherish Yackey which I second. Mrs. Yackey, if you’re reading this, we love and miss you!

@magnet.posts

With 135 posts, this page has no shortage of memes. Unfortunately, it does have a shortage of new posts. The last post is practically a relic, about missing school due to covid on March 15, 2020. Some things never change apparently though, as some still hit too close to home…

@100percent.magnet

This page ended abruptly on February 18th, so I am not sure what happened with that, but at least like @fungemotry, they posted an acknowledgement of their decrease in content in November 2020. If you went to magnet in the weird year where plexiglass ruled the school,  and covid only existed half the time, this is a throwback. My favorite post is the Valentine’s post on February 18th.

The Talon is taking on this grave issue, creating meme monday galleries every other Monday. We’ll feature memes you send in, and we want to get memes that every grade can relate to, so please send any memes to amhsnewspaper2022@gmail.com.

Disclaimer: The Talon does not endorse any memes that insult or could cause the school, teachers or student body harm.
