LILLY SCHWEICKHARDT

The top scorers for the girls basketball team were Lilly Schweickhardt and Choral Linhart.  Lilly has played school basketball since fourth grade at Belle Hall and then continued to play at Moultrie Middle School. And now, after playing four years at Magnet, she is considering playing in college for Covenant College.bilde

Lilly has been known to spend all her free time playing basketball. Besides playing for school, she is always practicing at home. Additionally she plays on another team outside of school, the Queens of Charleston. This team has allowed Lilly to travel to places in Tennessee, Florida, and Washington, D.C. for various games and tournaments. And when she’s not playing basketball, she’s watching it on TV. Lilly is an avid Miami Heat fan. She makes sure to watch them play every time and has attended a few games in Charlotte. Though she has never been to a game in Miami, she has driven past the American Airlines Arena and was overly excited to see it in person rather than just on TV.

She has visited Miami twice, once for a cruise and the other time to participate in the Dwayne Wade Fantasy Camp. There, she and her dad met Dwyane Wade and many other basketball stars. It was an exciting opportunity, as Wade is Lilly’s favorite basketball player.

CHORAL LINHART

Choral Linhart, the first player in AMHS girls’ basketball history to score 1,000 points, finished her basketball career in the playoffs at Ridgeland. She joined the varsity squad her freshman year, and has been a leader on the team ever since.bilde-2

Choral has played basketball since 4th grade when she joined a rec basketball team. She played rec basketball until 5th grade because Buist did not have a girls’ team at the time. In middle school, Choral joined the Blessed Sacrament team and was a star for those three years.   She also played AAU basketball for the Charleston Stampede since seventh grade, and is currently 5th on their All-Time scoring list.

In addition to playing basketball for AMHS, Choral also plays on the softball team as their star shortstop. She has played softball longer than basketball, beginning her career in 2nd grade.

Choral has won numerous awards in her high school basketball career. She is a 2 time All-Region performer, was named 1st Team All-State last year, achieved team MVP for the past several years, and was a co-captain her senior year.

Next year, Choral plans to attend the College of Charleston Honors College, majoring in Pre-Law or English.
