Boots to Wear this Winter

Warm and Fashionable!

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, it’s time to start rethinking those shoe wardrobes. Unfortunately, flip flop weather doesn’t last forever (I’m looking at you Jack Levenson). Whether you’re going on a trip up north or just need a pair of shoes to walk your dog, you can use this list as a survival guide to winter in Charleston.

Best For Men

Timberland Men’s 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boots

Every now and then, it’s good to go back to the basics. With these premium leather boots, you can’t go wrong. Added benefit: two inches in height.

L.L. Bean Men’s Tumbled-Leather 8” Bean Boots

Some would argue that these boots are basic. I would argue that they are basic for a reason. With high quality materials and a great silhouette, these are a staple for the winter months.

Clarks Wallabee Boot

That’s right people, they’re back. Whether you love them or hate them, your middle school memories have been resurrected in the form of the Wallabee. These shoes are great because you can dress them up or wear them casually to school. Author’s note: the tan colorway is equally attractive.

Chippewa Boots “Corbin Pull-On Steel Toe Chocolate”

A special favorite of Will Jordan, these boots are “freakin rawskis” according to the man himself.

Best For Women

Doc Martens Women’s 1460 Smooth Boots

Over the past couple of months, these boots have popped up all around Magnet. After speaking to fashion icon Josephine Drake, I learned that “they look good with black ripped jeans or jean shorts. I have this one flowery dress that I wear with them; it’s the perfect outfit.”

Buffalo London Classic Kicks silver glitter lowtop flatform sneaker

This pair of shoes is undoubtedly controversial. Owner Sloane Stoklosa states: “When I saw them, I knew I had to get them. Transporting them back from London was quite a problem because they took a huge part of my suitcase. I wore them on the first day of school and expected people to really think that I stepped it up this year, but most people hated them. I got maybe two compliments. I still wear them though because I love them.”

Steve Madden Yolanda Rust Leather Boot

These are definitely not your run-of-the-mill winter boots. Admirer Simone Kavarana states that these boots are “comfortable, casual, and chique. The triple C, if you will.”

Birkenstock’s Arizona Shearling Slides

Personally, I am surprised by the popularity of this sandal, but as an objective journalist, I vow to proceed. Endorsed by Reese Witherspoon, these Birks are sure to keep two strips and the soles of your feet warm.

Most Affordable

Sperry Men’s Duck Boots

For the look of the Bean Boot with a price that won’t drain your wallet, these are the boots for you.

Vans Sk8-Hi Weatherized MTE

The Van Doren Rubber Company rarely misses the mark. At 90 bucks, this pair of sneakers outranks all others at its price-point.

Nike Air Force 1

Artwork. Precision. Icon. All of these words can be used to describe one of the best silhouettes that Nike has ever created. Because of the leather upper, these sneakers will be sure to keep your toes warm in style.

Yeezy 700 Waverunner

It would be naive of me to say that these shoes are meant for everyone. They come with a hefty price-point, so I would suggest this pair for only the most dedicated Dad-Shoe lovers.

Nike Special Field Air Force 1 (Women’s)

Is that a drill sergeant or a fellow Raptor? These boots are great for anyone who loves the Air Force 1 but needs to add a little spice to their outfit. Author’s Note: I own a pair of these in a different colorway, and they are one of the most tedious sneakers to put on that I own. The process takes about four minutes; I’m not joking.

Honorable Mention

Fila Women’s Disruptor 2 3D Embroidery

Ah yes, the tried-and-true Fila Disruptor. Recently, these sneakers have been exposed to internet backlash for their overly bulky appearance that is matched only by their overly dedicated fan base. I have seen plenty of these in the hallways, and I have no doubt that these trendy shoes will continue to invade Magnet.
