Cars are not only a mode of transportation, but an object that brings joy and memories to many, as well as an achievement for those who worked hard to buy it. Continuing this tradition, the many unique vehicles at Magnet have been rated by both you and I to combine into what hopefully is an accurate representation of the most appealing but practical cars. I rated the vehicles on a scale of 1-10 based on how unique and popular cars were.
Side note: Since I did not realize that emails weren’t recorded in my form, I mixed responses with my own opinion to make it fair since people had the ability to vote for themselves multiple times. Additionally, I initially made the mistake of not asking what the name of the car was, so in the Honorable Mentions section there are some names without cars. With these limitations in mind, I tried to make it as fair as possible.
- The Bus Drivers’ Buses – Many people voted for the bus drivers. Buses create a haven for socializing, sleeping, last minute studying, and listening to music before and after school. The bus has several steps bringing it above the rest of the cars which gives the perfect opportunity to gaze at unsuspecting drivers going by. It is absolutely a durable vehicle as well as it traverses to and from school everyday in all sorts of weather, including the many inches of flooding especially in the Downtown Charleston areas. The power that comes with a school bus stopping other cars when picking up students is yet another benefit. Finally, the classic bright yellow color brings it all together. This vehicle had around 21 votes, putting it in first place. However, I personally rate it a 7.5/10 because it is not driven by the students and it is not the most unique vehicle.
- Quinn O’Keefe’s 3rd Gen Toyota 4Runner – It is described by a student voter as an “[o]lder four runner that’s dark green with a 2 inch lift and 33 inch tires with gold rims.” The gold tire rims and the chrome bumper accents are distinctive features which set it apart from the rest of the cars in the packing lot. It also has a roll-down back window, letting the driver get a crystal clear view of drivers behind him. The long bonnet and ditch lights assist with the ability to go off-road which is helpful for road trips and other activities, giving it the practicality rating. I give it a 8.67/10.

- George Janczukiewicz’s Blue 2014 Subaru BRZ – The deep medium blue color is beautiful and the low sports car body makes this car easily stand out among the cars. It looks like it would be in a car advertisement driving through the city when it’s raining at night, as the LED street signs light up the car. Additionally, it is a manual car so that alone makes it superior because it requires skill and practice to drive. It’s a definite accomplishment when one can drive a manual. I rate this car a 9.23/10, because the driver claims he wants to add more to the car so it isn’t finished yet, but it looks super sleek already. It has a duckbill spoiler and smoked tail lights that add to the uniqueness of this car. It was mentioned around 5 times in the poll.

- Hayes De Arrelo’s 2006 Lexus LS 430 – This one got over 30 votes, the most by far. It looks like a sleek car, and it’s a Lexus, so it’s reliable. It definitely has that early 2000s look to it and even though it’s been through it, it still looks great. The off-white color makes it unique as well as the details on the doors. I give it a 7.21/10. These are the before and after pictures of a crash although the owner claims he has since then fixed it.
- John Miles Olsen’s Subaru Impreza – Coming in close, the Subaru Impreza got around 10 votes overall. I like the shiny greyish color of this car and the sleek headlights that make it different from others. The overall body of the car looks polished, especially the compact black grill. The car looks as if it’s almost levitating above the ground. I give it an 8.2/10.

- Hayou Lin’s Mercedes C-63 AMG – This luxury car looks very classy and smooth with its shiny exterior. I admire it being a hybrid car. The interior itself looks modern and comfortable with its leather seats and screen technology, making it a great car for relaxing going to and from school. I give it a 8.46/10.
- Justin Mathis’s 2024 Nissan Titan – This monster of a car looks powerful among the others. I love how clean the white looks against the black grill and tinted windows. I also admire the black door handles with the white background. The color makes it unique as pickup trucks are usually silver or grey, so I give it a 7.78/10.

- Nico Pineda’s 2004 Infinity G35- This car, also made in the early 2000s, has a similar look to Hayes’s other than its shiny grey silver color. Its lighter silver window trims and rocker panel trim on the doors stand out. I particularly like the sunroof which allows for watching the rain or stars. It looks like a reliable and comfortable car. Also it’s for sale! Contact Nico for more information.

- Emery Gropper’s Green Subaru Outback – This car has a very unique color of dark green and is a very popular type of car not only at Magnet but overall. I rate it a 7.23/10 because the body isn’t my favorite but it still looks nice. It got a few votes on the survey.
- Jonah Sherman’s Lifted Mini Cooper – I have never gazed upon a lifted Mini Cooper until this year when I saw Jonah Sherman’s. Once a seemingly small and cute car, it has been elevated giving it a boost in its popularity and rating. Although I am not the biggest fan of lifted cars, I think this one looks great. The matching of the black tires and rims seem like an abyss of darkness in contrast to the lighter silver color. I give this car a 7.68/10.

Honorable mentions: William Altman, Ellis Williams, Luke Zheltov, Perrin Denzel, Adithya Ayandra’s red jeep, Lance Campbell’s Toyota Tundra, Avraham Lieberman’s 2025 Nissan Murano, Mr. Phillips’s bike, Sean Bacon, William McCarty, Max Hansen, Francesco Hamilton, Mason Fisher, Chloe Cangelosi, Tyler Altman, Matthew Semenoff, Mazie Jarrett, Luke Paggi, Tate Barganier, Ben Fox, Max Farricielli’s Toyota Rav4, and Judson Waggoner.Overall, I found that the most liked car brands for voters were Toyota and Subaru, and these top ten cars were voted the most. Let me know if you agree!
