AP Environmental Enthusiasts Embark on Excellent Ecosystem Excursion

Ms. Langley, Mr. Grimshaw, and 15 AP Environmental students traveled to Bull’s Island on Wednesday. The morning started with riding the bus to Lincoln High School in McClellanville to pick up 15 Lincoln students and 2 of their teachers. While there, each AMHS student was randomly paired up with a LHS student to be buddies for the remainder of the day. The students then boarded the bus once again to ride to the Bull’s Island Ferry. On the ferry to Bull’s Island, the naturalist talked to the students about the diverse aquatic habitats around the Lowcountry. Two trucks awaited the group on Bull’s Island, which took the students on a tour of the island. Many alligators were spotted on the ride, and one of the guides even caught a wild baby alligator with his bare hands! Although one of the trucks got stuck in the mud, the group made it back safely to the Dominik House to eat Little Caesar’s pizza. After lunch, the students enjoyed a Gullah-Geechee presentation. The day concluded with a relaxing boat ride back to the bus.

Despite the swarming mosquitoes, everyone had a great time!
