My Media of the Week: Movies, Music, and Podcasts

The media I have been consuming in the past week!

I recently went on a trip that left me with many hours of free time to do my favorite thing, which is to consume media. This is my media of the week for this past week.

Music

Didn’t Cha Know by Erykah Badu

I’ve been listening to more of Erykah Badu recently and I love her. She does a lot of R&B, Soul, Jazz type of music but honestly spans upon so many genres. This song is a 10/10.

Sucker for love by Frank Ocean

This song has been #1 on my On Repeat for probably 3 weeks now. I just love it sonically and the lyrics are so cute.

I Love Every Little Thing About You by Syreeta

This song is so cutesy and lovey I love it. I haven’t really listened to much of Syreeta but I definitely will soon because this song is a banger.

A&W by Lana Del Rey

Am I sad that I didn’t get to see Lana in real life at High Water? Yes. I’m getting over it though. A lot of people have this on their recently listened to probably, but this song is just so addictive. Especially with headphones in.

Glue Song(feat. Clairo)

All I have to say about this one is omg. THIS IS THE COLLAB OF THE YEAR. I have been waiting for beabadoobee and Clairo to do something together for forever. This song was already so ocute but Clairo’s part makes it even better in this version. This has definitely been a recent listen for the past week.

Podcast

Madeline Argy’s podcast on Youtube

I honestly can’t figure out if this podcast has a specific name but I’ve just been listening to it on Youtube. Madeline is honestly one of the most entertaining people to listen to like I could listen to her speak for so long. The way she puts things into words is so satisfying to me I don’t know why. I felt so seen in her episode about sexuality and the one about anxiety too. I honestly didn’t know about her until Tiktok but I’m addicted to this podcast.

Movies

Black Bear

Hmmm. I’m not sure how to write about this one without spoiling it but wow. Just know that you will be very confused by the end of it(I thought it was just me but the internet expressed the same thing). I was honestly less confused once I looked at people’s interpretations of it, so I would recommend looking into theories about it afterward. Overall though, Aubrey Plaza, as usual, was outstanding. Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon also did really well. It was filmed in an interesting way. If I rewatched it I probably would understand it better because it did leave me with the feeling that I was missing something. I gave it a 4/5 overall though.

Minari

Me and Sarah Baer disagree with our ratings for this movie. I really enjoyed watching it because of its filming, acting, and overall message. Sarah thought the plot was kind of repetitive and didn’t see much character development. I definitely disagree, I actually feel like there was a lot of character progression and didn’t think it was too slow either. I also don’t mind slow movies at all anyways so that never bothers me honestly.

That concludes my media of the week. Hope you enjoyed!!
