Classic iPhone Games Ranked

A bit of childhood nostalgia

Classic+iPhone+Games+Ranked

As a child, I was obsessed with finding new games on my iPod that I could play for hours straight. I remembered this when I saw someone playing candy crush the other day, so I took it upon myself to compile a list of all the games I loved during my childhood and rank them for the Talon. Without further ado, here is the list.

  1. Brick Breaker

This game is extremely redundant. It was fun for the first round of ever playing it, but after that, I was just tired of it. The graphics were somewhat boring and there was just never anything to look forward to when playing it except impending defeat. Given the ultimate blandness, this has to be the worst game on this list.

  1. Talking Tom Games

Ginger, Ben, Tom, Angela, and Hank. The squad. To be honest, I absolutely loved these games. I am pretty sure that I had every single one of these games downloaded at some point which goes to show my dedication to this series and these characters. This was all abruptly destroyed when rumors of a man being behind the screen of these games was watching you which also adds to why this is ranked so low. This terrified me and with that, the Talking Tom era of my life was over.

  1. Fruit Ninja

This game was pure satisfaction. I was an iPad kid when I played Fruit Ninja because I turned the volume all the way up just to hear the sound of slicing the fruit up. It was such a nice noise. My Fruit Ninja phase only lasted about a week though and then I completely forgot about it. Similar to Brick Breaker, it just got too repetitive and I got bored with it. That week was amazing though.

  1. Crossy Road

Crossy Road. The good days. I swear there was a time when I would have play dates with my friends and just sit in a room and play this with them. I was a fiend for Crossy Road. The daily prizes were my motivating factor for a while and when you had the chance to win Disney characters. I took Crossy Road very seriously when they brought Disney into it. My problem was that I overplayed this game and woke up one day and never played it again.

  1. Piano tiles

Piano tiles was a game that made me so angry, but I ate up every second of it. There is just no way any human could go as fast as some of those levels were. It was made for children to fail. Even though it was impossible at times, it was extremely fun.

  1. Toca Hair Salon

This was one of those games that I would play whenever I wanted some downtime. The possibilities for fixing hair were endless. I was always destroying the game in this and I truly believe that this period of my life was when I was most creative. It never really got old, but it was never really that fun either. It was just a constant that I could always resort to and be happy with.

  1. Flappy Bird

Flappy bird. The game that shook the world and why I don’t really know. Sure it was fun, but it was literally the most basic game ever. It was fun to play for five minutes a day at most and then it just got repetitive and annoying. How this was the first game of its kind and why it became such a crazed game, I will never know.

  1. Tiny Wings

Tiny wings was infinitely more fun than Flappy Bird in my personal opinion. I remember playing this game nonstop for a chunk of my life. Having the bird hit the curve just right and having it soar was just such an exhilarating feeling. Plus the graphics were a lot more clear and more colorful than Flappy Bird.

  1. Doodle Jump

Doodle Jump, the good old days. I absolutely loved this game and genuinely never got tired of it. I have explicit memories of me playing this on vacation with my family. There were so many elements of this game that made it so good: the obstacles, different themes, and the character.

  1. Geometry Dash

This game was so annoying, but it was fun. I still believe that completing a level of Geometry Dash made me feel the largest sense of accomplishment I have ever felt. Nothing will ever beat the amount of strength and perseverance it took to complete a level of Geometry Dash. A bonus of this game is the fact that the music was fire. The matching beats to the movements were the only thing keeping me going at certain points in this game.

  1. Angry Birds

Angry Birds is such a classic. It was so successful that it turned into a movie series. I never thought Angry Birds was as fun as the general population, but it was still always a good time. There was just a certain point that I physically could not play this anymore because I was just tired of it, but up until then, it was in the mix of games for quite a while.

  1. Temple Run

I loved Temple Run. The graphics could have been better, but I think that the shoddy looks made it what it was. There were so many variations of this style of game, but this game was so much fun and I loved playing it over and over again which was rare for me as a child. Something about the Indiana Jones-looking guy running away from the monkey just made me feel a certain way especially when they made the Wizard of Oz version.

  1. Kick the Buddy

I genuinely do not know how popular this game was among other people, but I was obsessed with this game. There was actually no point except inflicting harm on the little puppet, but it was so much fun. It was a game strictly made for violence and weaponry, but as a child I ate it up.

  1. Jetpack Joyride

This game was revolutionary. I felt cool playing it when I was little. The graphics were good and clear and the premise was fun and intriguing. I loved the upgrades you could purchase with coins and that you could just keep playing and not get bored with it. Jetpack Joyride was just a solid game that I would admittedly still play today.

  1. Cut the Rope

Cut the Rope was so good. It was challenging, yet different with every level and it was never too bad so it made it fun to play. Some games were just way too hard and it made it frustrating, but this game had the perfect level of difficulty for it to stay fun and engaging. I am tempted to re-download this game.

  1. Where’s My Water

Similar format as Cut the Rope, Where’s My Water was just so good. The only difference from the previous game was the fact that the storyline was better for Where’s My Water. Disney just really did the most with this game and the fight to get water to Swampy.

  1. Subway Surfers

Subway Surfers is ultimately the best game of childhood. This game is just perfect. I never got tired of it and I still play if I feel empowered too because I still have it downloaded. The graphics, the music, the premise, the upgrades, just perfection. I have nothing but good things to say about Subway Surfers. And with that, it deserves the number one spot.
