Ranking Songs from the Best Disney Movie Trilogy Ever
In case you live under a rock, it’s High School Musical <3<3
I don’t think many people could argue that High School Musical WASN’T part of our childhoods. Whether you’re a senior or a freshman, at some point in your life you’ve heard a HSM song. (If you’re like me, then you play them on repeat in the car and ~Scream~ them at the top of your lungs a la Troy Bolton.) Now I understand that my rankings could cause some controversy, but I’m prepared to back them up. Try me.
So now, the moment you’ve been waiting for…High School Musical (2006):
- Get’cha Head in the Game
- Breaking Free
- What I’ve Been Looking For
- Stick to the Status Quo
- We’re All In This Together
- Bop to the Top
- Start of Something New
- What I’ve Been Looking for (Reprise)
- When There was Me and You
High School Musical 2 (2007):
While this is my least favorite of the three movies, the soundtrack is great, so it was especially hard to rank each song.
- Bet On It
- I Don’t Dance
- Work This Out
- Fabulous
- You Are the Music in Me (Sharpay Version)
- What Time Is It *side note- senior prank idea… play this song at the end of the year and do the paper throwing thing… beautiful*
- Everyday
- All For One
- HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA’A
- You Are the Music in Me
- Gotta Go My Own Way
High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008):
- Scream
- The Boys Are Back
- Now or Never
- I Want It All
- Senior Year Spring Musical
- A Night to Remember
- High School Musical
- Right Here, Right Now
- Can I Have This Dance
- Walk Away
- Just Wanna Be With You
- Just Getting Started
- We’re All In This Together (Graduation Mix)
In case you just want the best (/most iconic) songs from the series, I present (in my highly professional opinion) the greatest HSM songs of all time:
- Scream- A cinematic masterpiece. Emotion. Guitar. Dancing on the ceiling. SO. GOOD.
- Bet On It- Another “Troy Bolton doesn’t know what to do” song. Arguably the most iconic scenes (i.e. dancing on a golf course, reflection in the water, etc) come from this song.
- The Boys Are Back- A true best friends song. If you haven’t tried to do the dance with your best friend, then what are you even doing with your life.
- Get’cha Head in the Game- Alas, music or basketball. If you can dribble a basketball to the beat, come find me because you need a gold star and win at life.
- I Don’t Dance- peak irony, great music.
- Fabulous- YES. That’s it.
- You Are the Music in Me (Sharpay Version)- Much better than the Troy and Gabriella version. I said what I said.
- Stick to the Status Quo- Simply iconic.
- Now or Never- A great opening number to the third movie. Troy, playing basketball. The emotional last game. Gabriella, standing in the crowd. A spotlight. Such a great scene to reenact.
- We’re All In This Together- This had to make the master list simply because it is THE High School Musical song :)))
I hope this list inspires you to go rewatch these amazing movies and jam out to their great soundtracks!!
