All the Things I Get To Do In My Free Time
Online School Edition
Let me preface this article by saying that I love doing online school. It has been a blessing in disguise for me. I have a crazy amount of extra free time on my hands that have allowed me to do things like workout more, work more, get more sleep, cook, clean, run errands, and get better grades. I also feel like this new found freedom is preparing me for all aspects of college. But do not get me wrong I miss my friends immensely, that is one downfall of being at home unfortunately. My friends on the weekend also frequently ask me to come back to school to do in-person learning, but I just can not pass up all of the benefits that I get from doing online classes. With all that being said, here are some of the things that I now have time to make myself for lunch.
Here I have made pumpkin muffins:
If I am being honest they did not turn out all that well because I was trying to make them healthier.
Next, is a banana, peanut butter, crepe, with whip cream:
I probably eat this 3 times a week for lunch
Another things I get to do because I am home, is make coffee every morning:
First I put the coffee grounds in the machine and add cinnamon so that the flavor will be infused into the coffee.
I then press brew (on the iced coffee setting)
Next thing I do while that is brewing is I make cold foam for the top of my coffee. And since I do not have an espresso machine I have to use the blender. I really really want an espresso machine but they are $600 and I would not even be able to take it to college. Maybe I will invest in one when I get my own place.
also I use A2 milk (it is not real milk but taste just like it!) but when I order my coffee out I alternate betweek almond milk and oat milk
Then, I add ice in my glass, pour my coffee in, add gingerbread flavoring, and add my cold foam on top!
In addition to the food and drinks I have been able to make myself I have also been able to work out so much more! Sometimes I go with my dad to the gym while we are both on out lunch breaks or after classes I attend spin classes at CycleBar. Before I was doing online school I felt like I had no time to workout. I was always tired and always dragging. But now that I have so much more time I am more motivated to go to the gym. When you really think about it I have gained so much time by just not having to wake up, get ready, and drive during rush hour to make it to school by 8:30, which means I was waking up at 6:30. But now I am waking up at 8:05 to get ready for my zoom classes that start at 8:30.
Also let me tell you guys spin is the best workout I have ever done. It is the best full body workout that burns the most calories ever. Also! while you are working out you are listening to some great music that movtivates you to push yourself even more.I tell everyone how great it is till the day I die.
Two weeks ago I got my tonsils taken out. I was out of school for almost a week because the recovery for this surgery is really hard and lengthy. But while I was recovering my Aunt got my a coloring book and a big box of colored pencils. I know it sounds childish but I have had so much fun doing it while I have a little bit of free time. I also have started to be more consious of the amount of time I have been spending on my phone so this is a perfect alternative.
Another thing that I have time for now is reading! As a magnet student I remember reading all the time in middle school just for fun. But ever since the stress and workload of AMHS has been my whole life I have not been able to sit down and read for fun. I can not remember the last time I read a book that was not required by a teacher for a school assignment.
Currently, I am reading The Night Road by Kristan Hannah it is a book a friend gave to me to read. She is also doing online school so she has had time to read as well so we have started to trade all the good books we have read back and forth.
