Isabel Eicher: United States Air Force Academy

Isabel Eicher will be attending the Air Force Academy in Colorado this coming year. Throughout her time at Magnet, she has played three sports: volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. She also served as the Senior Class Vice President this past year and was a member of the National Spanish Honor Society. Here’s what she had to say about her upcoming year:

When did you decide that you wanted to be in the military?

“Tenth grade when the naval women’s choir came to Magnet”

Why do you want to be in the military?

“Service to my country is very important to me and I really like the structure and sense of camaraderie.

Why did you choose the Air Force Academy specifically?
“I want to be a pilot.”

Do you want to be in combat?

“Yes”

What is one thing you are most looking forward to?

“Basic training”

What is one thing you are most nervous about?

“Basic training”

Are you worried that the academy will be difficult?

“I think that it will definitely be hard, but AMHS has prepared me both academically and physically”

Do you want to make a career out of the military?

“Yes”

Do you know what you will major in?

“As of now, I am still undecided”

What other activities do you plan to during your time in college?

“Volleyball, lacrosse, skydiving club, and wilderness survival club”

How do you feel about giving up your phone ?

“It will be good for me, but it won’t be easy”

What do you anticipate will be the hardest part overall?

“The physical activity and the altitude of Colorado”

How do you feel about wearing a low bun?

“I hope no one ever sees me like that.”
