Girls’ Soccer Bounces Back After Rivalry Loss
Last week, the Girls’ Soccer team lost a close game to rivals Bishop England. Spectators have suspected that the loss was due to the fact that the game was played on St. Patrick’s Day and the Bishops happened to be playing in green jerseys. Nevertheless, the game ended in a 2-3 win for the Bishops. However, anyone watching the game would say that the Raptors dominated possession and had many more chances than the Bishops, who had three lucky goals. “Magnet played so much better,” says senior Maryanna Reed. “I can’t wait to see them beat the Bishops in April.”
Last night, however, in their first game since playing Bishop England, the Girls’ Soccer team showed that they wouldn’t be held down by a loss to their rivals by beating The Highlands School, a private school that traveled down to Charleston from Virginia. The Raptors dominated the game, which ended in a 3-0 win for the Raptors. Senior Maddy Carens started the scoring and following goals were scored by freshman Riane Coman and sophomore Abby Tickle.
This win gives the Raptors momentum going into the next month of playing before playoffs. Make sure to come and watch the epic rematch on April 19th as your Raptor girls show that the Bishops won on pure luck, and not skill!
