Weird Dog Breeds You Never Knew Existed
When going to purchase a new furry friend, most families go straight for the Golden Retriever or Lab. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the classics. However, check out these unique dog breeds if you’re feeling adventurous next time you’re looking for a puppy.
Mudi
This breed originated as a herding dog in Hungary. Mudis have long wavy fur and come in six colors: black, brown, white, fawn, gray, and cifra, which is the black and white marble color shown below. They are known to be active, clever, loyal, and protective of their owner and family.
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
Golden Retrievers are the most popular of the Retrievers, but most people don’t know about its relative the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, known for its fox-like qualities. They are named for their ability to toll, to entice or lure waterfowl within shooting distance. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers are very friendly and patient with children, but they are more active, physically and mentally, than Golden Retrievers.
Bedlington Terrier
This breed originated in England to hunt vermin in mines. They are known for their unique fur and their speed, both on land and water. Although they sometimes get jealous around other dogs, their versatility and playfulness make them great pets.
Puli
Everyone knows about this breed for its dreadlock-like coat, but not many people have them as pets. However, they are active, cozy, and friendly, making them the perfect pet for families with children. Bonus: their dreadlocks make them virtually water proof!
