Magnet Bubble Soccer Tourney
February 24, 2016
On Friday, February 12, Academic Magnet hosted our first Bubble Soccer tournament as a fundraiser for the local Ronald McDonald house. After a shortened schedule the students and players headed out to the field for a bubble soccer tournament that was to forever alter the course of Magnet’s prestigious pep rally history. Through the smashing, dashing, and kicking of players in their bubbles, Zach Lanning, Eduardo da Costa, Nate Schlosser, Nathan Wan, and Andrew Alberg were crowned kings of the bubble soccer tournament after a dramatic championship game on the muddy fields of Magnet. The highlights from the games can be found here.
According to some of the all-star bubble soccer players, the bubbles give you full protection when hit, although they limit your peripheral vision when running, causing some of the best hits to occur from the side, launching opposing players airborne. Tie-breakers are settled with two players running head-on at each other, and the results usually end up something like this. Bubble soccer was also a great fundraising event, as $2380.00 was raised for the Ronald McDonald house.
