Introducing sophomore Charlie Pappas! For those of you who don’t already know him from his four years on the AMHS Varsity basketball team, I talked to him and found out a little bit more!
Charlie originally lived in LA but moved here and the big city vs. small town was definitely a big change. What didn’t change with the move though was his love for basketball! Charlie has been playing since he was just three years old, and this commitment has definitely paid off because he’s made it on the varsity team every year of his high school career! He says he really likes basketball and his team because it’s a lot of fun. He also recommends that “everyone should play a sport” because the team atmosphere is a great way to hang out with friends and exercise at the same time.
His love for basketball has translated into his hobbies as well! Charlie is a big fan of the Boston Celtics, a basketball team that’s currently second in the Eastern Conference. He’s attended a game of theirs in person, but when he can’t do that he enjoys sitting down and watching the games from home with friends or family. Even though he’s from LA he still loves Boston sports! When you can’t find Charlie watching or playing basketball, there’s a big chance you can find him playing video games – particularly Siege. Another thing about him is that he enjoys playing Brawl Stars as well…maybe a little too much in my opinion.
Now let’s get into some of his favorite things. Basketball is obviously a given, but he also has interests in other things as well. His favorite movie is Pulp Fiction, a crime movie about gangsters, hitmen, and bandits! When asked about books though he had no comment. As far as school goes, he’s excited to continue his next junior and senior years in high school enrolled in AP Literature and AP Language! Charlie likes getting to hang out with his friends during the school day but only for a little while because he, just like a lot of us, doesn’t like how long the day is. When asked for his death row meal, he just said “steak.” As much as I do like steak, I think it’s not a very original death row meal when you could ask for basically anything you want. However, it is still definitely a valid answer.
Charlie used to work at Mex 1 for a while as a busser and a food runner because it’s very close to his house and he doesn’t have to worry about dealing with the Sullivan’s Island traffic in the summer…but now he’s unemployed. Whether he was fired or left voluntarily he didn’t say, but Charlie is generally a hard worker so I doubt he was fired. While we don’t have any information on his future job interests, he does already have some ideas about what he might want to do in the future for college. Even though he’s just a sophomore, he expressed his interest in California schools. Going back to his LA roots is something that he’s been looking into for the future, but we will just have to see where he ends up!!!
