Suguri Yamaguchi, or Sugi for short, is a talented and smart junior at the Academic Magnet High School. Sugi has many different hobbies and interests, including playing video games and watching anime. When asked to describe himself, he said, “kinda weird” and that he is “special but the upbeat version of the word special.”
Suguri loves to be involved in anything Academic Magnet and spends lots of time doing clubs. He is a star member of the DECA business team for the school, as well as participating in Mu Alpha Theta and Robotics Club. When he isn’t chilling with friends, playing video games, or watching anime, he enjoys time relaxing. He is an Eagle Scout due to his outstanding character and his amazingness, and he was an amazing person to interact with, as well as interview.
Suguri Yamaguchi is a Japanese American with a heart of gold and fire in his eyes, as you will be able to see if you watch more than a minute of him playing soccer. When playing soccer, as his best friend Tyler Perez says, he plays with the most passion anybody has ever seen.
He is also a top scholar for Mu Alpha Theta and has participated in various competitions for the team. For those who do not know, Mu Alpha Theta is the school’s top club for all things mathematics-related, and Sugi is a top participant. I have also heard that he is the foreign advisor for NHS, but I do not know how true that is. I do however know that he has been in NHS for as long as one can be, easily meeting all requirements for the club as he is very smart and a top scholar. He did mention having a very high GPA but asked me not to share for privacy reasons.
He also mentioned that he loves chicken and rice, as well as microwaved ramen.
Once again, Suguri was a blast to interview, and he seems to live a very active life and maintaining his heart of gold and his continuous passion for everything that he participates in. Suguri also has a passionate love for all things in life and in nature, and loves to “read his favorite book outside lounging above the green grass on his outside hammock.” His favorite book that he has read is “The Pigeon Has to Go to School.” His favorite animal to see in nature is the lizard, and he says that he hopes that at some point in life, he will have a Komodo dragon, as that is simply a giant lizard/dragon. He keeps hoping that eventually, dragons will be “back alive.”
Ultimately, we love Sugi and his passion for everything as well as the finer things in life, and thank you to Sugi for being so amazing and a great Raptor!
