The time is nigh for Valentines. Do you have love for someone in your life? Don’t be afraid to let them know! Love is in the air! No matter who you have love for, whether it be friends, a partner, pets, or just yourself, everyone deserves to have an amazing Valentine’s Day! This year, we have plenty of Valentines at AMHS this year, including ourselves! We sent out a survey asking students who their Valentines are and how they asked! We got responses ranging from friends to lovers, which is so unique.
You can have a Valentine no matter who you are. We’ve seen plenty of students find love not just in a romantic sense! In fact, one student chose the most dependable Valentine there is – their pet. Isaiah Perlmutter decided that a human Valentine was too much trouble. His dog Rosie, however, was the perfect companion for the day. After all, pets deserve love too. She even expressed her excitement at his proposal with a kiss! How sweet is that? What a perfect Valentine!
One challenge that comes with Valentine’s Day is facing multiple proposals. Who should you choose? One solution is to weigh the pros and cons of each suitor. However, this can be a lot and I personally feel that each eligible bachelor should prove their worth. Chloe Trowman was faced with this exact issue when both Everett Landrith and John Thomasson claim that she asked the two of them to be her Valentine. I simply do not see how this could be true. Chloe is a loyal gal and is being faced with quite a problem. Let’s let the crowd decide. Comment if Chloe should go with John or Everett. These are the ways she allegedly asked each of them; She asked Everett in a nonchalant fashion by simply going up to him and asking if he would spend the day with her. He reports that while he was anticipating a grand date, all there is planned for them to do is FaceTime. Seems like there’s not a lot of commitment there, but as this proposal likely is fiction, this is not surprising.

She also asked John to be her Valentine, but it was not disclosed how she did so. John also says that she has made plans for the special day, but they must remain secret and quote “If you ask her she will act like they don’t exist as she doesn’t want me to know yet”. Hmmm, I don’t know about that one John, sounds pretty suspicious to me.
Alden Evans had an “understood agreement” with her Galentines this year, Zoe Hutson, Isla Todd, Hanna Ismail, Aliza Zhang, Jenna Hallaba, and Haley Weber. Alden says that she asked them “with rizz” and their plans will be organic.
Another Galentine pair this year was Addie DeFord and Ellie Sams! These girls came together with a snap saying “Will you be my Valentine?” and enjoyed a little dinner date together on Saturday night!
Asking someone to be your Valentine can be scary, but it is the perfect opportunity to get some hidden feelings off your chest. Marc Williams took a chant and shot his shot by asking his crush, Foster Kennelly, to be his Valentine by getting down on one knee! How romantic! He says it took a lot of courage, but he is excited to take this chance to spend him with them. He shares, “I’ve planned a cozy afternoon that starts with a surprise visit to our favorite little art gallery, where we can get lost in the creativity and beauty that surrounds us. Afterward, I’ll take them to a charming café with warm lighting and soft music—a spot I’ve been excited to share with them for a while now. I’m looking forward to genuine conversations, heartfelt laughter, and creating small moments that might just turn into lasting memories. Every detail of my plan is designed to show my true self, and I can hardly wait to see where this day takes us.” What a sweet story, I hope you guys have a lot of fun!
Next up: The couples! We have Quinn Swanton and Kimberly Do, who are going to go out to dinner, watch a movie, and hang out at one of their houses for hours! This couple is so cute together, and they were also featured in the couples spotlight by Sophia Benich, so you should go check that out as well. Quinn says that he surprised Kimmy with flowers and asked her to be his Valentine. Adorable!!
We also have Maddy Jolly and Jacob Beuk, and Maddy says that Jacob “just asked her.” Classic! They have plans and it’s a surprise so Maddy isn’t sure about the specifics, but she knows they are going out to eat. We hope they had fun!
Jack Vinzani also asked his girlfriend Rajané Mitchell to be his Valentine this year, and since they’ve been dating for five months already he just asked her. When asked about their plans, Jack said, “I am actually out of school due to being sick, so it depends on if I feel better by that point. If not, we will celebrate another day!” How cute!
Unfortunately, miscommunication can lead to a catastrophic love triangle, putting friendships at risk. One example of this is the Adi-Noah-Street train that has developed, although it seems that Noah is the culprit here since Adi asked him by lighting fireworks in the air spelling out the question so they can Netflix and chill on the special day, but hopefully Adi realizes he’s being two-timed, and cancels his plans so Noah can follow through with his special someone, Street Wilson, and take her to “the finest dinner she’s ever been to.”
Not all Valentine’s are right at home with you, which can be hard. For those in long-distance relationships, like myself, Valentine’s Day requires a bit of craftiness. Magnet Alum Ford Martin asked me, Quinn Enright, to be his Valentine by making a playlist in which the song names spell out the question; “Will” (by Joyner Lucas), “You Rock My World” (by Michael Jackson), “While We’re Young” (by Jhené Aiko), “Be My Valentine” (by Lani Love), “WILL YOU BE MINE” (by DC The Don). And it’s important to keep in mind that if your Valentine can’t be near you on this day, you can find friends to spend it with.
Sometimes, people get creative, like Luke Nestleroad, who asked me, Talia Barsness, to be his Valentine with a box of my favorite candy and soda and wrote at the bottom, “Will you be my Valentine?”
