One of the amazing things about Magnet, in my opinion, is the awesome clubs that celebrate cultures from all over the world. One such amazing club is the Asian Awareness Club. Run by co-presidents Emma Khaskely, Beatrice Vaught, and Elaine Chen, this club’s mission is to “create a space for Asian students and for anyone interested in Asian culture to congregate and enjoy discussions and food”.
An exciting project that the Asian Awareness Club has coming up is decorating a hall in honor of Lunar New Year to raise awareness of Asian holidays. And this will double as a community service project. According to the National Museum of Asian Art, Lunar New year is the celebration of the beginning of spring and the beginning of the lunisolar calendar.
If you are interested in joining this amazing club, they meet in their club advisor’s , Mrs. Roop’s room every A-day Tuesday. A typical meeting for the Asian Awareness Club includes different Asian foods and snacks that the club shares while discussing a variety of topics.
One thing the members and executives of this club want the Magnet population to know is that all people are welcome at Asian Awareness Club.
So make sure to stop by Mrs. Roop’s next A-day Tuesday and see what Asian awareness Club has in store.
