After a long day of school, homework, and responsibilities, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a good TV show. For some students, it’s the intense drama of Grey’s Anatomy that keeps them hooked, while others can’t get enough of the dark twists in You or the thrilling storylines of Breaking Bad. And of course, sometimes all you need is the ridiculous humor of Family Guy to forget about stress for a while. But what makes these shows stand out among students? In this article, we take a look at the most popular TV shows among students, why they’re so binge-worthy, and how they’ve made their mark on academic magnet culture.
To start
Meredith Finley said: Breaking Bad because it “It’s entertaining and has lots of interesting symbolism, great acting, and talented writers”
Jack Serano: Survivor because
“The people on Survivor are a collection of the stupidest minds to ever walk the earth. They’re all for the most part hungry and tired and it’s very entertaining to watch them fumble around for 76 hours and then vote for someone seemingly at random. I also like to do survivor drafts which is sort of like fantasy football but based on how good you think the contestants will do”
Wow, this is a very strong opinion, but I’m glad you have such a great favorite show.
Izabella Heise said her favorite show is Dexter because it “combines a murder mystery with a psychological thriller that questions morality. Each episode generally has a different subject, and morality is questioned throughout the series leading to an interesting, and complex show to watch”
I agree with the take because Dexter is one of the best shows I have watched and it is very interesting up to season 5 and then it tends to fall off.
Kaden knight said The Walking Dead “has very good characters and a good storyline”. I have also heard great things about this show.
Ethan Casby’s favorite show is Six Feet Under “I like how it tackles different issues like the fear of dying and personal expression in a funny and interesting but still complex way”
Ailin Morales says Outer Banks is her favorite show “I know this is basic, but I really like it’s coastal vibes and because I am from Charleston and have lived here my whole life the setting of the show really resonates with me. Parts of the show are ways that I want to live my life someday. Not only this but it is plot twist heavy, and a very entertaining show most people can enjoy despite its maturity rating.”
I would have to agree to disagree with Alilin because Outer Banks after the first 2 seasons just aren’t as good.
Mia Wang said “Once Upon a Time” her reason is “Since Once Upon A Time was full of drama and magic and love, I remember being completely obsessed over all of the fairytale-like gowns, settings, villains, and heroes. I don’t really remember much about it but I watched this show when I was younger so everything I saw on TV seemed so much more realistic than it was, making it one of my fav shows.”
Chloe Batiz says her favorite show is “Criminal Minds”. Because there is a new case every episode it’s easy to keep watching it because the plot is always new. The characters are great and really well developed as well. An amazing show to watch :3”.
The easy to watch factor makes this show very appealing and with high praise it could be worth watching next!
Gray Mars’s favorite show is Invincible he says “Invincible is a great show because it takes a twist on the superhero genre with much darker themes along with tragedy”
Saiana Elkins Shameless “It is the most recent show that I have been watching and the family, friend, and foe dynamics are very interesting and keep me interested.”
Alicia Brown says her most favorite television show is Alien Stage “It’s interesting and I’ve been able to bond with friends over it. We wallow in despair together.”
Isabella All The Rookie “I really like cop and FBI shows like that and in my opinion they’re really entertaining but also occasionally educational while also not making you feel like you’re watching a documentary, and The Rookie is also really funny so I really like it.”
Marc Williams Squid Games “Squid Game is my favorite TV show because it’s exciting, emotional, and makes you think. The story follows desperate people who enter a deadly competition to win a huge cash prize, playing twisted versions of childhood games. Every episode is full of suspense, and you never know what will happen next. The characters feel real, and their struggles make you root for them. The show also has a deeper message about social class and greed, which makes it more than just an action series. With its cool visuals, intense music, and shocking twists, Squid Game is a show that keeps you hooked until the very end.”
Freya Lawrence says Dc’s Legends of Tomorrow and said because “It’s funny, it involves time travel, it has superpowers, good plots and good representation”
Molly Janech said X-files “(Spooky) Mulder is really cute, and I love the relationship between Mulder and Scully. On top of that, it has made me want to become an FBI agent.”
From crime dramas to reality TV, students’ favorite shows cover a wide range of genres, each offering something unique. Whether it’s the intense storytelling of Breaking Bad and Dexter, the survival chaos of Survivor, or the nostalgic magic of Once Upon a Time, every show resonates with its audience differently. Some students love deep character development, as seen in Criminal Minds and Shameless, while others enjoy the high-stakes suspense of Squid Game and Invincible. For some, a show’s setting, like Outer Banks, makes it even more special. No matter the genre, TV shows provide entertainment, spark discussions, and even bring people together. So, if you’re looking for something new to watch, bored, or
