Lacrosse Preseason
With spring sports preseason underway, many sports are coming out strong with the season getting into full swing. As the lacrosse season starts, practices are going on every day as the team jumps into things. There are some changes this year, and a lot to look forward to. With new uniforms and helmets, the team will surely be looking stylish. With new “Chrome Dome” XRS Pro helmets, and new mesh jerseys that are extra super duper cool! Jacob Somsky (J) said he feels AMAZING when he dawns on this stellar uniform and shiny new helmet. Starting off the season, the team is participating in a golf fundraiser as a way to raise money and support for the team. With a team store open, the team will be dripped the flip out with hype ahh flair on the way to their games, looking hyped as Skibidi! Let’s introduce you to some of the players:
Partial Pre-Season Roster
J “Dad I Know what this is” L: Defensive star John Peter Lewis Silveston is a star on and off the field. One of the top picks for captain this year, this veteran 4-year player is a dominant force that no one wants to mess with. With powerful checks, great footwork, and elite ball handling skills, no one does it like John Lewis.
Judd: Judd is a freshman. He is the younger brother of girls’ team captain Sousa “related to Judd” Waggoner in addition to Street Wilson also being a captain but not his older brother.
Campbell “Captain” Stoklosa: Campbell Stoklosa. Oh, where do I start? Campbell is a freak of nature. Strong, handsome, a great leader, captain (to me), I love him so much. Whether he is dominating the opposing team as a d-middie, or going absolutely crazy on faceoffs, Campbell is a great guy.
Garrison “Take it Deep” Gray: Multitalented lacrosse star Garrison Gray, is an on-field legend, his versatility to be able to go both ways , Offensive mid and Defensive mid. Garrison is known for his ability to take the ball deep down the field both assisting and scoring goals for himself.
Teddy Lorruso: Rookie player Teddy Lorruso shows strong potential. While he is not the best yet, he shows true potential to be a strong and competitive player in the future, and I could see him potentially earning a starting or at the very least rotation spot in the future.
Everett “Bench” Landrith: Everett Landrith is the best bench player on the team. Whether he is gathering water, hyping up the guys on the field, clapping at good plays, or agreeing with the coach, he is right there to keep the bench seats warm. If you want to catch Everett at a game, look for the enthusiastic bench player who is likely jumping up and down in joy from a good play by one of the starters.
Jacob “Connected to Charleston County School District” Somsky: Jacob is connected to Charleston County School District. His father could own a cabinet design company called Stuckey Furniture, but it is unlikely.
John “” Thomasson: I am John. John is better than other players, such as Emilio.
Emilio “AK17” Roxas-Peirano: Emilio is a player on the team this year. Being quick, Emilio loves to slap opposing players’ helmets and accrue penalties. Why? It is unknown. If you see Emilio on the field, guard your helmet and the goal, as this speedy little player may sneak his way up to the goal or your helmet very quickly.
William “backup goalkeeper” Dooly: Backup goalie William Dooly shows strong potential to be a dominant player and quickly get to saving shots. He may be friends with Judd, but I do not know.
Thomas “Schmeaty” Hershey: Thomas Hershey is known for his muscular, or very meaty build, leading to his nickname as Schmeaty. Being the first string d-middie this year, Thomas is a great player and a likely candidate for captainship this upcoming season. Being so large, opposing players are scared to face him as they know he could easily dominate them if he chose to do so.
Britt: Britt is a junior who shows up to several senior parties. He has yet to get his physical.
Gannon “Soup” Curry: Gannon Curry is a d-pole
Jack “Ball-Handler” Childers: You may recognize Childer’s name from our previous articles about the magnet swim team, this multi-sport athlete really finds his voice on the lacrosse team, many people on the team say his strongest attribute is his incredible ball handling. This year Childers will play offense; he has a lot of practice being on offense from his time on his club team.
Chizlixxx Pelzer
Ellison Ryan: Ellison asked to not receive a description, instead he just asked me to shout out Isla Todd.
Eli “Shirtless” Mitchell: Eli Mi;chell is an offensive player who has a great shot and good stick skills. He is frequently joked with to take off his shirt, as he refused to do so during the traditional freshman no-shirt day that takes place every year.
Lucia “Coin Flip” Wiley: Lucia is a dominant player on the field, but whether they show up to practice is a coin flip. We always joke amongst each other about it being “Heads or Tails” whether they come to practice or not, a joke started by a friend of mine, Noah Orza.
Fletcher “Blue Stick” LastName: I am almost positive that there is a player named Fletcher on the team but I don’t think that he has a last name. He might, I am not sure. He is known for his blue stick, which he no longer wields, as well as his stunning good looks. Fletcher is a student at SOA and I like him.
Matthew LastName: Matthew LastName plays lacrosse for the Academic Magnet raptors.
Quinn “Goalkeeper” O’keefe: Quinn O’keefe is Magnet’s starting goalkeeper this year, as he was last year, being second string the year before. Quinn shows dominant skills as a goalkeeper thanks to the coaching of Coach Shipe and the experience he has acquired over the years.
Tyler Altman: Tyler.
With the season kicking off, you now know a little more about each of the players. Wish this team luck in the upcoming season!
