Many people are doing their best to settle into the new year, but do not be deceived – there is still MUCH change to come, so hold on tight to those resolutions. With the phone ban in place, an incoming TikTok ban, and a new president, it’s looking like a triple threat. While I think that these events will definitely fluctuate back and forth, I hope that nothing too bad happens this year. Hopefully there will even be some good that comes out of 2025 and surpasses 2024. On the topic of change, I decided to ask students at Magnet what they predict might happen in 2025. This includes any trends or major events may occur this year. Here are some of their comments…
With this first response I would like to credit the person who sent this in because of its length and intriguing nature. Apparently this list was made in collaboration with multiple people as they preface that they along with their friend group “have a lot.” Lets see!
- “abby lee miller is gonna die”
After doing a quick google search, I found that Abby is only 59 years old so I don’t know if I would agree with this prediction but maybe the
responders meant something other than a natural death… This is a pretty morbid prediction so hopefully it doesn’t happen but I guess we will have to wait and see? - “charleston is gonna get either a huge earthquake or hurricane bc were overdue” This is a pretty reasonable prediction as Charleston does lie on one of the most seismically active zones in the eastern US. For everyone’s sake however, I hope this does not happen because of the amount of damage that it would cause.
- “mr lovering or someone in engineering is gonna make a nuclear bomb but accidently somehow” I honestly don’t know how to respond to this but so far these predictions haven’t been too positive so I would have to leave it at I hope this also doesn’t happen.
- “phone ban is gonna be lifted bc someones gonna have a rich lawyer dad”
Looking more towards the bright side, I’m sure every student is manifesting this prediction. I do not know if this will happen just due to the fact that it is a state wide law and multiple states are already enforcing it, but I still think this would be a great event in 2025. - “someone is gonna break their ankle wearing heels at semi/prom” I don’t know if this has ever happened before but I wouldn’t be surprised due to the many horror stories from last year: stepping on glass and ripping needles from boutonnieres out of feet.
- “ap exams will get canceled due to abbys death and the earthquake” I do not think that these exams will be cancelled, because I don’t think they have ever been cancelled. Although you can cancel your score, I still think you will end up taking the exams.
- “mrs akery will run for president” Somebody can fact check me on this but I’m pretty sure that Mrs. Akery would not be able to run for president until the year 2028… Despite this, I hope to see it too!
- “taylor swift will release rep tv” I second this. I hope it happens and I think a lot of people will be disappointed if it isn’t.
- “olivia rodrigo and noah khan are gonna date” I don’t know about this one… Olivia is currently dating Louis Partridge, and nothing has reported that their relationship has come to an end. So unless something stirs the pot I doubt this will be an event in 2025.
- “charli xcx is gonna collab with chappell roan” I feel like this is likely. Both of these artists have been gaining more and more popularity, and a collaboration between them would definitely be a hit.
Next up, we have another list!
- “Blake Lively will discontinue her shampoo brand”
I didn’t use to have a problem with Blake Lively, but I do now. I think her hair care brand is dumb so for these reasons I hope it does. - “Phone ban will be lifted bc like there’s no way it won’t” Another hopeful prediction that I don’t know will happen but one can only hope!
- “People will cancel zendaya and tom holland bc they’re jealous they’re engaged” While I think that lots of people are jealous of this couple, there is no point on hating on them because they are perfect. I don’t know how people would get cancelled but I hope they are able to have a drama free wedding and I can’t wait to see all the pictures.
- “people will finally get bullied out of painting gorgeous old houses beige and white (hopefully)” I don’t think this will happen, but I like beige and white houses, so maybe I’m not the best person to comment on this. I think that old houses should be restored in a way that keeps their original aspects but I don’t think painting the outside of them takes away from them as much.
- “ariana grande gets a better stylist” After seeing a plethora of videos commenting on her makeup and style choices, I’m sure a lot of people hopes this will happen. Personally I’m indifferent but we shall see.
- “sephora/ulta set an age minimum for sections of the store” Please. The sephora tweens have gotten out of hand, and I feel like the ages keep getting younger. Obviously this is an opinion, but I do not think it is a healthy thing for middle schoolers to be doing their makeup especially with these luxury products everyone sees them using.
- “Brittany broski and Ilona maher get on snl” With their rising popularity and Ilona’s participation on Dancing with the Stars I feel that this is a very realistic prediction and that it would be funny to see.
After reading these I would like to note that personally, I am predicting that lots of new music and artists will be discovered and that this year will come with new fun activities to try. I also look forward to finishing out my last year of high school, graduating, and I predict I will spend lots of time with friends and family. Thanks so much for reading, peace out.
