In case you didn’t tune in, this year’s Golden Globes were held January 5 this year, and here’s a quick recap of anything you may have missed. As far as winners, the TV show Shōgun and the musical/thriller movie Emilia Pérez both went home with four Golden Globes apiece. One interesting thing however: Shōgun was nominated for four categories and won every one of them, where Emilia Pérez was nominated for ten (the most out of any nominated in 2025), and only took home four. However, both did extremely well. A couple other films and television shows took home multiple Golden Globes this year as well: the period drama The Brutalist with three wins, the comedy series Hacks with two wins, and the thriller miniseries Baby Reindeer with two wins.

The talk of the Golden Globes this year was the host: comedian Nikki Glaser. The host the previous year was another comedian, Jo Koy, but his performance was very poorly received by a large audience of people because of a few questionable jokes he had made. I was glad to see that there was a better option for a host in 2025. She has a reality show and podcast, and I would say she is most well known for “The Roast of Tom Brady.” Although a couple jokes didn’t quite land with everyone, she was definitely a solid pick and the crowd as well as the audience watching from home liked her as a host.

Aside from the big winners, there were a few other movies that really stood out this year who were rewarded with Golden Globes of their own. Wicked took home the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Challengers won Best Original Score – Motion Picture, Demi Moore got Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy in The Substance, and many more. Demi Moore as well as Zoe Saldaña (who won for best supporting actress in Emilia Pérez) got teary eyed with gratitude for their wins, and it was a very emotional night for a lot of the actors and actresses in the room. Saldaña even had to be taken off stage because her acceptance speech was so long!!

Just like any other awards show, the review must include more than just the nominees and the winners: let’s talk about the red carpet looks. Zendaya stunned in an orange satin dress from Louis Vuitton, but everyone’s eyes were drawn to what was on her finger. She wore a large diamond ring which sparked rumors of a possible engagement between her and long-time boyfriend Tom Holland. This was then confirmed the next day by Zendaya’s father, but the excitement buzzing between their fans was a sight to see on the night of the Golden Globes. Selena Gomez also dressed in satin, favoring a light blue color instead. Ariana Grande dressed in a long yellow straight dress with a beaded top similar to in the show Bridgerton, and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo dressed in a deep-v black ruffled dress with a fine white floral print. Speaking of debuts, Emma Stone wore her new pixie cut proudly alongside a Etienne Laurent red gown cinched at the waist. There were simply too many good looks to write about, so if you’re interested in any others please see the slideshow below!
