This season was an extremely successful one for the Raptors, with the team finishing 4-7 and making the playoffs for the first time in ten years. Sadly, in the playoffs they were defeated 42-0 by Barnwell (R5-1).
Offense
The offense this year took a run-first approach with the team putting up a total of 1472 rushing yards and only 802 yards passing. The backfield was run through a committee led by Campbell Stocklosa, Donovan Hamilton, Keveon Ford, and Samba Diallo as well as several other players who got a few carries. Stocklosa led the room going for 281 season yards for a game average of 25.5 yards. He also found the endzone three times.
In the air, Quarterback Owen George led the team in passing yards at 450, which came off of 30 completions out of 78 attempts (38.5%). His passing touchdown to interception ratio was 7:9 which led to a 48.5 QBR. Not only did he make his mark in the air, but also on the ground as George went for 421 yards and three rushing touchdowns, bridging his TD total to 10:9. Campbell Stocklosa also played some snaps at QB going for 342 yards with no touchdowns. His completion percentage was an identical 38.5% (38/70 as well).
The receiving core was led by Dean McCullough and Tyler Perez who combined for over 500 yards on the season. McCullough was very effective with his receptions as he averaged 15.1 yards per reception and found the endzone three times. Overall, the team averaged 13.2 yards per reception and 73 per game.
Donovan Hamilton and Dean McCullough both separated themselves from the rest of the team as they both had over 600 all-purpose yards on the season, with Hamilton having 360 kick return yards and McCullough having 219 kick return yards and 110 punt return yards.
Defense
This year the defense was on another level. Led by DB Keveon Ford, they held teams to an average of 30 points per game. Ford had a historic season recording 101 tackles, making him the first 100 tackler in school history. Ford also led the team in interceptions at 3 and even blocked a punt.
This year the team recorded 12 total sacks which came from eight different players, including Donovan Hamilton who contributed three.
This defense created lots of turnovers this season. They averaged 0.8 interceptions per game, equal to the national average, and recovered 9 fumbles, two more than the national average.
Special Teams
Special Teams were very special this year. Kicker Tyler Perez averaged 44.6 kickoff yards, which is higher than the national average (38.6), and even kicked one 60 yards. Perez also found success punting as he averaged 36.5 yards, also higher than the national average (32.2), and pinned the opposing team within the 20 seven times.
Overall, this season was monumental for the team and was easily the best in some time. Many important seniors are graduating this year, so it will interested to see how the underclass players set up to fill these empty spots.
