What do students keep in their backpacks? Besides the normal fill of pens, pencils, notebooks, etc, many students have their own unique items which they bring to school every day. Maybe it’s food, a good luck charm, or even something weird like a little animal (Fritz). These things might seem small, but oftentimes they have a reason for being there. It’s interesting to see what people decide to keep close to them every day, so let’s take a look at some of the most surprising and personal items students carry around.
JC Williams: Alan Cumming Bobblehead
This one was definitely interesting. JC Williams keeps a bobblehead of Alan Cumming, a niche Irish actor, in his backpack at all times. He claims he found it at goodwill and has been unable to find anything like it. He thinks it is fully custom made and designed as there is no proof of anything else like it online. He claims it is a good luck charm, and says that it has made his money “double or triple” an apparent reference to one of his more underground films, referencing how his money grew in large amounts, which he claims has happened to him since he started carrying the bobblehead.
Fritz Browning: Imaginary Dog named Skibs
While not a physical item, I felt obligated to include this as Fritz Browning insisted that he keeps his imaginary dog, Skibs, in his backpack during the day. While I was unsure about a lot of this, Fritz provided a lot of information on the topic. Skibs is a teacup chihuahua, named after someone who he looks up to a lot. Fritz claims he is a very nice dog, but can be a little timid or mean to other dogs at first, until he warms up to them. While this is definitely an odd inclusion, it is a good one. Thanks Fritz!
Jack Tierney: small photo of Fritz
Jack Tierney keeps a small photo of Fritz Browning in his backpack as a memento and a way to pay homage to those before him. Jack Tierney says he peeks at the photo occasionally throughout the day, whether he needs motivation or just wants a laugh, he looks at the photo and thinks about the good times they had together back in the day. Since Fritz gets walked around on a leash by Skibidi, he is not able to do anything anymore, so Jack tries to remember all the good times they used to have. Jack says he has kept this in his backpack for a few weeks, but hopes to keep it until he graduates and may continue to do so into college.
Lane Yarbrough: Ben Quadinaros lego figure
Lane keeps a small lego figurine of Ben Quadinaros in her backpack as it is her favorite character in fiction. Ben Quadinaros comes from Star Wars, being one of the top pod racers in the league. He has a large impact on the prequels, making himself clearly known and being a rather dominant character who exudes courage and intellect. Lane keeps this figure as she loves the character, and hopes to one day get a larger figurine of the character if possible.
