Thanksgiving is a great holiday that comes around every year. In the midst of the football games, food, and desserts the main message behind the holiday sometimes gets lost. The meaning behind thanksgiving is to think about what you are thankful for and be grateful for family and friends in your life. Each and every person has something they are thankful for and amhs students are no different this holiday season.
To start, Senior Logan Burns said, “I’m thankful for many things. Some of these things include my family, friends, and all the opportunities I have been given. I am thankful to Bijan for giving me the points I need and I wish him the best of luck on his new team”. Logan, I am glad you are so grateful this holiday season, it is sad that Bijan had to go but for the best.
Junior, Julian Churchill is thankful for “the permanent return of Fortnite OG”. Julian this is a great thing to be thankful for and I think a lot of people are excited for it as well. The last time this version of Fortnite came out was back in 2017-2018 so the hype is at an all time high.
Junior, Zuriel Nyamutsaka said he is thankful for the fact that,”A lot of good music has dropped this year (Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Nudy). There’s also been a lot of really funny stuff to look at this year, and although I have bad feelings about 2025, I enjoyed being able to spend 2024 with my homies”. I agree with this and feel like it has been a great year for music in general. I’m not sure why you have bad feelings about 2025 but I suggest that you go into the new year with a positive attitude and hope for the best!
Junior, Collin Hlavac said “I am thankful that Dr. Hay is teaching English 3 because I would probably be failing if I had a different teacher”. I’m glad that you have Dr. Hay, although I have never had her, I have only heard great things about her. I have also heard that English three is a pretty hard class even though its honors so hang in there.
Senior, Billy Brodsky is thankful for many things but he specifically said, “I am thankful for my family and My Singing Monsters”. What a guy. This is all you need in life is a supportive family and some singing monsters. I hope that you have a great thanksgiving Billy!
Everett Landrith, said he is thankful for “Dr. Altman”. I agree with this because she is a great teacher. All of the language teachers here at magnet are all very good teachers and she is no exception.
Senior, Evie Waldorf said she is thankful for “everything but stuffing”. I would have to agree with this statement because stuffing is just not a good dish at thanksgiving. I would argue it is the worst dish at thanksgiving but that might come across as a little controversial.
Senior Alaina Jarret, said she is thankful for a lot of things including, “deviled eggs, cold brew coffee, my friends”. I am glad you have a great group of friends and that you enjoy deviled eggs. Deviled eggs are an interesting choice but I will have to trust you. I also am not a fan of coffee but my dad drinks it everyday so I might have to try it.
I think this is a great answer because JL is a chill guy. JL is a great student also, always working hard and is often seen locked in during many of his classes. JL’s study habits and the ways he goes about his academics is something we can all learn from going forward.
Senior Donovan Hamilton said he is most thankful for, “My band, football team, and my circle of supporters.” I am glad you have so much to be thankful for. Your band Bring the Hype is something to be proud of. It is a talented band and the people in it are all great people. The football team I heard is very tight knit and with your final time playing being last week it is tough to realize that was your last game. The football team played very well this season and impressed a lot of people.
Senior Reece Early said he is thankful for, “My father and glorious king Jared McCain”. In my opinion I think this is a little too much support for a guy who does not even know you, but it is understandable. The Sixers have not been very good for a long time so holding on to hope is the best thing you can do. Hopefully McCain can turn around the process which was unsuccessful with Joel Embid and Ben Simons.
Junior, Aayush Bansod said he is thankful for, “Tyler the Creator and my mom”. I am glad you are thankful for your mom because she probably does a lot for you that you don’t even know. On the other hand, Tyler the Creator’s new album was very underwhelming and not my type of music, but I am glad you enjoyed it. He does have a lot of great older songs though so maybe you are talking about that.
As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s clear that AMHS students have a lot to be thankful for, from family and friends to music, teachers, and even gaming nostalgia. These responses highlight the unique experiences and relationships that each and every student has here. While everyone’s reasons for gratitude may differ, they all reflect a shared appreciation for the support, joy, and opportunities that have defined their year. Overall, Thanksgiving is a time to pause and acknowledge these blessings, big or small, that we might otherwise take for granted. This holiday season I challenge you to truly think of what you are thankful for and think about how you can make the next year even better. I hope you enjoy the holiday and take a chance to recharge for midterms before winter break. Happy Thanksgiving, AMHS!
